Title: Pro Neck question
Post by: electro808 on December 26, 2007, 12:45 AM
I've restored a few Tuf Necks but I've just bought a Pro Neck which I plan to strip and polish.  The great thing about Tuf Necks is the fact that, by undoing the large bolt, you can remove the quill which makes the stem really easy to polish.  I (carefully) tried to loosen the bolt on the Pro Neck so I could remove the quill but it is rock solid.  Is it possible to loosen that bolt on a pro Neck or is it fixed and just there for show?

The Pro Neck is built exactly like the Tuf Neck ... I've restored two now and both main bolts came out easily

Try clamping an old seat post or bars in the stem to undo the main bolt ... use heat on the quill if required too  :daumenhoch:

Cool.  Thanks for the info.  I've Just polished this stem with the bolt and quill left in place but at least I know the score when I do another one...
