Post by: munners on January 09, 2008, 06:12 PM
4th one ever made. ORIGINAL SURVIVOR CONDITION. All exact spec apart from the tyres.  ;)

Was previously Danny Silverstreak's.  ;) Dont worry Dan.....she will be cherished for ever!

Pedals on a Gen 1 Leary were Chrome cage, Black insert SR MP-134

One's in the picture are DB MKS, as found on Silver Streak (aka MX pedals) :daumenhoch:

Look fella,

Your comments were neither required or constructive and typical of the minority, directing them at me in the way you did only provoked a response.

I was already having a PM conversation with Munner prior to your reply.

Instead of telling it how you see it, not how it is, try not treating the thread as a way to have a go at someone and back off.

Is the seat clamp the same as this one  :-\ I was told by db-oldskool that these were also fitted to the Leary Turbo  ??? It was chrome but it was shot at and easy to pick off , so i did , and polished it  :daumenhoch:

The levers only need putting in the right position, further down the bars so that the lever itself is horizontal with the grip other than that it looks great to me  :daumenhoch:.

Snav,

To be totally honest fella, I've only ever gone by spec sheets and from what I understand the clamp you show was an aftermarket product.

All the Leary's I've seen in official brochures show the SR clamp. :daumenhoch:

Munners, what seat clamp is on there?  I think I have the original SR chrome clamp off of a Leary, if you haven't got the original then you can have my one (if i can find it) for nowt mate.

I'm sure the DB freaks will shot em down but I though the Learys had tech3 levers nor prepents, or was that the mk2 Leary?

Sweet bike mate, really nice....

This is a forum where views & opinions are aired,  your talk about constructive comments must be some hypocritical joke after telling me to fook off followed by the arsehole icon,,Very constructive

My opinion is your just a geek with a DB bobble hat, and belive me that opinion is not in the minority.

So you were pm-ing munners?? hmm.. telling him he was lucky to have such a nice bike eh?
No.. teling him he had incorrect era parts and generally pissing on his fire.

So do us all a favour and go jump a freakin fence..   moron

I like it Munners, the pedals are the same as on the bike I got from Matt last year and are also the type I'm putting on the resto one I have yet to get all parts for!!

First time I rode mine it did feel weird to me, light and whippy but the cranks length took a little getting used too ;)

OK freaks, just found this kicking around in the bottom of my toolbox, i'm pretty sure it's the original clamp off of a leary but jeeze the memory is fading! It's in great shape, my camera picks out every imperfection though!

Can you DB dudes confirm?  it might make munners day!

Very nice, saw that myself when I picked up the Turbo Lite.

You'll need to change the seat clamp and pedals as well.  :daumenhoch:

I see your point on the seat clamp but what up with the pedals?

Pedals on a Gen 1 Leary were Chrome cage, Black insert SR MP-134

One's in the picture are DB MKS, as found on Silver Streak (aka MX pedals) :daumenhoch:

I thought Leary Turbos came with chrome cages, polished bodies and chrome end caps. The streaks came with a chrome cage, black body and silver end caps. the cages on the SRs were allen bolted  :daumenhoch: the MKS were riveted i think.  ???

Leave it Nick, mine will have DB ones on but doubt you'll get SR's..................

Unless you find the bodies, drill off the diamond cut cages of ya MKS ones and screw em on the SR's ???

Ive just had a look at the pedals and there is some evidence that the spindles may have been blue! There are slight blue bits all over. I will get some pics 2moro. Maybe they are correct?

One thing i've learned in the years i've been involved in this old bmx thing is that it's never an exact science. Stuff is not always as it came in the spec sheets. if a shop dropped the bike on it's pedals they'd change them out to the next best thing and so on and so forth.

And why is Danny's account deleted? Kin Mercman now i spoze?

Going to need one of these then?
