Title: Old Skool Reunion 06
Post by: DaleHolmes on December 07, 2005, 01:20 PM
How about putting a real  big reunion together? really  promote it  and set a weekend aside to make it happen.  The few i have been to are good,  but  alot of people never know about them. Should have a big blowout one weekend in the summer.

Milton Keynes track is the closest thing you'll get to an old skool track!
Its been there since the early/mid 80's and hasn't changed that much.
Its tidy around the track and perfect for camping.
Who cares if they shut the gate? You can jump over and get a taxi into town if necessary! :santa_afro:
It also means no drunk drivers if you can't get your car out.....

No drunken runs into the motorway though! :LolLolLolLol:

Slough is just sitting there doing nothing, i'm pretty sure i could get a set of keys to the park for a weekend!
plenty of space for camping in there ;)
if it coincides with an RC meeting at the track just nextdoor it will be open anyway!

Hi all

MK does have a good road network, and i've just found this -

Following extensive consultation with local skaters and the Police, the Council decided to build the £100,000 skatepark, which is one of the best skate plazas in the UK, if not the world.

Derby's pretty old school, can organize race meet, but would need to discus with council for camping, failing that its all round Dale's mum and dads house! ;D ;D ;D ;D and it's in the midlands, aptley named because it's in the middle of the country. :idiot2:

I reckon Milton Keynes is a spot on venue, its sort of middleish it has easy access from the m1.

Also the shopping centre isnt that far form the track if the chicks come along and wanna do a bit of shopping.

Its also pretty decent for street riding/skating, marble ledges gaps and drops etc etc

Any ideas on when this would take place???????

later on like august time is best i think. its more likely to be warm, and may is the expected date for the sheffield track event. if you do them too near you will water down the amount of attenders.
Title: Re: Old Skool Reunion 06
Post by: Rooonga on December 08, 2005, 09:55 AM
Definately Dagenham!

We have the track, can probably camp as long as its after the footie season, and best of all we have a big hall/pavillion, and kitchen, and changing rooms with showers right next to the track!

(We will have to pay to use the pavillion, but shouldn't be too much split between everyone.)

:D

OR!!!!

Why don't we do what we were gonna do this year, and sort out Brettons!

Couple of weekends work, and the track will be in excellent nick!

Proper old school track too, with camping available, and the BIG club house for a piss up in the night!!

The map shows Dublin, so can i add my preference.

Marlay Park is situated 6 miles south of Dublin City on the foothills of the Dublin Mountains. It was officially opened in June 1975. Within the park there are a wide range of sporting and other facilities available for public use. There is 14 soccer pitches, 4 GAA pitches, 1 cricket pitch, 6 tennis courts, 1 par 39 hole golf course, 1 400m grass running track BMX Track. The car park off College road serves the par 3 golf course, cricket pitch and a number of other playing pitches.

Ok, i'll go wherever.

How about we narrow it down to a choice of Milton Keynes and Derby as venues and maybe sometime in late August, early september. :)

We could take a vote on the venue too

MK might not be geographicaly (did i spell that big word right?) central but its the fairest option for the majority of riders....but Dagenham would be cushty as we could all go amd break some bones at Rom in the evening!!!!

August Bank Holiday weekend would be a logical choice :santa_afro:

It would be, but if there is a national that weekend elsewhere then it would stop a fair amount of members turning up as they need to ride all the nationals to qualify for the Brits  ;)

LOL i was just being selfish & noticed that that is a free weekend from the National dates i'll be racing next year, i'm still waiting on the club calendars at the moment though which will make things even more difficult ::)

i'd like to get to an event earlier in the year too April usually too wet to be really enjoyable if camping but May is usually do-able? :santa_afro:

i like camping, the excitement's "in-tents"  :LolLolLolLol:

Yuk
Thunder Tiger LOL

thats an ARD modified Omega, hand modded by Yannick Aigoin!

it was shite i cooked it first time out, bit of a waste of a £330 engine :-[

no thanks to the Marder though, i'll stay 1/8 scale :santa_afro:

i'm gonna stick with the Rc now as its my main hobby at the moment
i'm a bit limited in what i can actually do nowadays as i have a torn cruciate ligament in my left knee & have been told i need a replacement right knee too as i limped for so long and wore it out :(

too many years of BMX, skateboarding, Ice Hockey & Motocross!

i need a competitive racing hobby that doesn't hurt me any further & the buggys hit the spot :)
there's a lot of ex Motocross riders who race 1/8 offroad as its still "engines & dirt" plus some of the better tracks are like scaled down supercross tracks so its good fun getting some big jumps in during a race  :santa_afro:

they are pretty good fun on ramps too, here is a backflip i did over the hand rail of the hafpipe!

Right here are the dates supplied by UncleBuck of next years race calendar:

Quote
Bill,

these are the dates, venues to be confirmed, think the euro champs at Cheddar are 2nd week of July, so avoid that too.

Keep the 19/20 August free too as that is a draught date for Hawks to celebrate 25 years in bmx and would be good to have OS there of course. But will keep you informed.

We will also have an open day for when the new concrete skatepark goes in, possibly June.

Would also be good to get your guys along to a couple of South Regionals in the summer, like Dagenham & Hayes, those dates will be set early 2006.

Scott

8/9 April Round 1

29/30 April/ 1 May Round 2 and 3

20/21 May Round 4

17/18 June Round 5

22/23 July Round 6

12/13 August Round 7

26/27 August British Championships

16/17 September National Club & Team Championships

I would have thought after the Brits looks favorite, lets have your thoughts  ;)

if you to accomadate everybody and everything, it will not get done. saying that it needs to be placed carefully . i would have hoped for the 6 week holidays, but thats a bit selfish cos most dont get them off. if we set a venue, maybe that would help, as we could get a list of possible dates sorted then.
