Title: TRM Freestyler rollcall + bike count
Post by: Shings on January 14, 2008, 01:31 AM
Right then....

I was toying with the idea of selling mine as I dont use it since I got told off for riding it on the ramps at creation - PLEASE NOTE IT IS NOT FOR SALE - after a few chats at Corby and Creation I am happy to keep it- thanks to Meddle, Pickle and Raarman amongst others.

So I was wondering- who owns 1 or 2?? - Lets see how many there are on here..
What condition?
Pics?
How long you owned??
What dya pay for it???
What do you know about them??
Wanna do anything to it.

Heres mine- after sitting in the back garden for 10 years
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/v206/shings/Image017.jpg)
And after rebuild
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/v206/shings/rebuiltbmx-1.jpg)
Outside bucks palace
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/v206/shings/buckpalaceme.jpg)

Its in good useable and servicable condition after a recent rebuild - she did 14 odd miles for Children in Need.
I've had it since around 1991 and paid £5 for it from an older mate who wanted a few beers.

Untill I came on here I didn't even know what it was called.

When I got it she had Red skyways with green tyres and red MX1000's with green cables- I plan to make it like this later in the year as its how it was.. I also need to replace the seat as it is fubar'd...

All yours peeps....

I've got one in chrome in excellent condition. I paid £150 for it about 4 years ago but that was with a few other bits.

They were built in birmingham, stirchly i think and the TRM stood for 'Totally Radical Machine' or something just a dubious.

They were available in chrome and white only and are pretty hard to find nowadays. They used to sposor a rider who became the world front hopping champion Paul Heyfron (remember him?)

Were made by a mate of my old man called Tony 'Potter' Peach from Kingshurst in Brum. Stetchford Cycles used them for their factory team, may have even commisoned them, can t remember. Couple of my mucca's raced for Stetchford Cycles on them, Steve Bell and Derek Owen. Both won a load of nationals and Derek won the Brits in 84 on one.  Ten a penny round Solihull in late eighties. Never like them personally. P!sser for pads at a time where you could get arrested for not having them on the track. Remember Heff well, from Worcester, mate of Rich Holland, bandana always tied round his neck, sure that we the fella. Front hops very under rated trick.

Well more like Smiths Wood/Kingshurst. Lived in area behind the Toby Jug. Didnt make them there, made them in a unit in Gravelly Hill originally. He used to make a few replica GTs in  the early days, a few of us from the Chelmsley Eagles had them. He then did a design for the TRM and sarted a production run. Derek Owen had one of the first prototypes and so did Tonys son Kelvin. Were you one of Arthur Curtis's Kinghurst Flyers Shings?

I got three. One has LG's on tho after a shite drop out years back. It's always been my favourite frame, fantastic geometry - very well balanced. I wheelied one for over two miles in 85 for charidee. Here's the ad from 84'

I bought this frame from Scott last year (in museum), this how it looks now
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/ee276/cherrypicker_01/011.jpg)

And the bike I entered for BOTY
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/ee276/cherrypicker_01/003-1.jpg)

I had a fourth in white, no decals, lost by Parcelforce twats in November. God knows where that ended up  :'(

Nah- I am too young, only 27. I remember going over to the BMX track by Simon Digby School/ The Labour Club when I was well young... My Dad knows a lady who live behind the Toby might have a word.

As for Chelmsley wood.... tell me about it- I went to Archbishop Grimshaw.. I cant believe I used to ride it to school in the 90's and NEVER EVER locked it up at school
