Title: Rare parts...
Post by: DINODOG on January 16, 2008, 07:31 PM
A few months ago on here there was a thread about "what was the rarest frame and forks?
I was just thinking,What are the rarest parts around??????.Some of you guys must have some speical bits of kit hidden???
I think there should be a section at MK08 just for bikes with rare extras??? What do you think?

We had this before and it's amazing that when you think something is rare maybe because you have not seen one on ebay or posted on the os forums so you post it up and then half a dozen other people post up the same thing; suddenly it's not so rare  :LolLolLolLol:.

An aluminium Pro Hax sidehack? An RRS frame? Bassetts? (cue baldy with his gateful!) SST Race Lace hubs, don't see many on rebuilds.

A Darren Wood Raleigh Special/Pro-Lite/Rickman? :LolLolLolLol:

Holeshot RF1

That's a few times i seen that mentioned, urban myth or reality?  If ruffs did one then it was probably just something painted over and stickered up surely?

A mate of mine from Banbury had an RF1. He got it direct from Andy Ruff after they did the photo shoot for them at Mons ramp and he had a go on one.

He more or less stopped riding in the early 90s and his shed got broken into. He lost the RF1, a TA and a performer.

I think Bernie Vincent made the Holeshot RF1 frames.

Holeshot RF1

There were a few Ammaco frames stickered up as Holeshot RF1's - I'm not even sure a proper one ever got made.

There was the one in the advert and the one my mate had. So that is 2. The standing platform wasnt like any other frame. Kinda Streat beat-ish but with its own twist. No way it could have been anything else.

I have been looking out for the square tube framed aero??? can't remember what it was called similar to the Pace RC200 and 300's mountain bike frames.

Im on a wild goose chase tonight!

A girl i know who used to be top 3 in the uk reckons she knows where her old bikes are!

She used to race a Cook Bros, hutch and JMC! Aerospeeds the lot she reckons!

The only problem is..........she believes they are behind a shed at her mums old house. Her mum moved last year.

You know that if the new owner dont let me in there i am gonna be fence jumping one night over the weekend with a load of loot! :LolLolLolLol:

Im gonna say that my aunty used to own the house and she had all my old bikes there. May work. I hope so!  ;)

Done this before to access to my grandma's old house this year (she died 10 years ago). It worked fine!... but the very few stuff and magazines I had left were gone  :(

Good luck for your chase Nick!

Mattdub, what about graphite zeds?  I haven't seen many mentioned, I had a set on my redline MX2 along with a graphite addicks sprocket.

What about Cook Bros hubs? Unifork? Not that old but what about an L&S frame? LRP frame? (Loncarevich Racing Products)

i had some nos graf z's , sold em on ebay to Billy on here,

quite cheap and undervalued , and reckon they look nicer than usual black z's also,

never seen another gen set before or since, but know there's a few around,

Mainly if not all mid school , Gossa's yer man for Revcore history  ;)

CW made a hub in about 1986 called the CW Revcore (get it, revolutions, core?) and shortly after CW went bust and from the ashes Roger Worsham (CW owner) started a new company, Revcore.  The company did well with Charles Townsend winning ABA National no1 Pro in 88.

I would say that Revcore freestyle stuff (48hole hubs and fs frames) are pretty rare, you don't see much revcore stuff around at all really, some frames pop up from time to time on ebay usa.

I had a custom Revcore XL made with double dropouts, that bike was nice......

Rare stuff .......

VDC Gorila 24" F+F ( not junior size )

Obviously some rarer than others.................................  ;)

Mattdub, what makes you say standard Gorila over a Junior Gorila, just curious as I always assumed far less Juniors where made.
