Right...
I have achieved my goals for January and have decided to carry on with BMXing as I am finding my feet and quite happy with progress- thanks to everyone who's given me the encouragement and help required!! :4_17_5: RAD ROCKS!!
So I am looking at a new bike- Stevie B has a blue Sect frame and a Green Sunday thing- I have no idea what either is but both look good and seem to be light- which is good?
I have also seen this... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Standard-STA500-ox-custom-BMX_W0QQitemZ320209931569QQihZ011QQcategoryZ33503QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem but as I have no idea about BMX's in general I dont know how to substantiate the sellers claim of £500 for the frame alone!
I have just measured my bike and from the centre of the seat post tube to the centre of the tube the forks go in is 20.5 inches.
(have I measured that correctly?)
Any other suggestions of a potential bike- looking really around the £400 mark- or to buy a frame a bit cheaper and stick the bits off my haro onto it!
My current bike is this one-

Thanks in advance...

lo mate the green sunday is a nice bike
ya could have had a go on my met green one last nite
mines a 21 tt

when the ox plat s.t.a came out it was £480 for the frame as air hardened tubing was 'new' in bmx. the price for the frame went down to £370 about 2 years ago as this is the going rate for a standard frame and coincided with the termination of having a full 4130 chromoly frame
sunday frames are nice! well worth being an option.
some complete builds these days are awesome so also worth a look are

http://www.rideskateboardingbmx.com/WTP2008BEYOND.html
http://www.rideskateboardingbmx.com/DK2007DAYTON.html
all of these have sealed 3 peice cranks, sealed cassette wheels and full 4130 chromoly frame! all around your top tube size aswell. what it would cost to make up an aftermarket bike with these specced parts will be far more than what these cost!
get down ride and see them in the flesh!

The bike you have looks fine to me! :(
-
another option is pm trev about a proper frame and source some second hand parts

Aye. My thoughts exactly.
Any particular reason why you want to get another bike Shings? Please don't tell me you're getting caught up in the bike weight thing...
I would think that both Trev and StevieB could build you a new complete bike for your budget. I know Stevie definately could. :)

Yeh its the weight I think... although I dont actually know what mine weighs if I am honest.
I had a go on Meddles at Corby and it just seemed better all round.. he had a go on mine (this was before I had got in and out of the mini) he set off and popped out- just.. had a ride around and then came back to his- popped out about 700ft in the air... so theres definatly something in it.
My 1 and only fall off at Skaterham made me think about it...
I was learning pegging in with Raarman and Trev.. went down.. didn't really get enough speed to come back up and couldn't jump out of the mini either and I felt it was down to the weight of the bike.
In reality- its 1 I am trying to run before walking has been mastered or 2 my bike is too heavey?
Thanks for the comments everyone else.. got a few options- gonna have a trip down to ride for a butchers too I reckon.

Long toptubes are wierd at first.
Shings, if you bought Meddles bike at full retails price it would probably make your eyes water... The quality is throughout the bike, not just the weight. On a side note, what tyre pressures are you running? That's about the biggest factor in park riding as to how your bike feel under you.
I run 110psi for example, I know Meddle is somewhere similar too.
When I last changed my bike I probably shaved a good 5lbs off it, if not more. It was also very different in the geometry. For a good while I couldn't manual it at all, just couldn't get the wheel off the ground. Nowt to do with the weight ;)

Jake
if you still ain't sorted a new one by the Creation session feel free to have go on mine. it's an off the shelf job, not too heavy (according to Pickle it's a pretty good weight, i have no idea what heavy or light is)
and it might be up for sale real soon. :daumenhoch: although I'm currently about £400 short of the cash needed to build my 3 amigos frame up the way i'd like it.
also the creation session is all riders welcome, so try everyone's bikes. :daumenhoch:

Of Interest, Complete and Utter Bargain !!

May consider trade and cash :daumenhoch:
-
ffs :LolLolLolLol:
how tall are you shings?
how harsh do you plan to ride? (be honest)
-
I run 110psi for example
Whoa...that can't be good for your knee's ;)
But Rob's right. When I bought my bike 3 months ago (after 8 years out), I didn't think about tyre pressure, was getting a couple of feet out but struggling. Put a few dents in the rims, then asked someone what they were running. I was running 40psi, pumped them up to 80 and rode in. Just so happens someone was taking a pic as I scared the life out of myself when I pumped hard the first time...

I guess that's a nothing......if I got back on.
-
is that a flask of tea on the deck
:) DINGO :)
-
I do let a few psi out of the front when I ride Rom..... save the wrists a bit....
Thats a good looking ramp ;)
-
Also look at getting some of those light weight KHE tyres and maybe some lighter pegs; I took my pegs off and blimey, what a difference! :LolLolLolLol:. For a very few quid you could make that bike spot on :daumenhoch:.
-
Awww
I'm all confused now.. lol
Stace- your bike is out of my league price wise. sorry.
The rest... I run 80psi... I cant get my pump to do anymore... :LolLolLolLol:
I like how my bike rides to be honest I just think it could do with being a damn site lighter.. I only run 2 pegs.. I dunno how much they weigh, these KHE tyres sound a good plan as I was gonna change tyres anyway..
Help!!!
Jake
-
Hehehe........ all confused.... bless..... :LolLolLolLol:
don't worry about it bud. Really. When I came back I rode my first six months on £80 worth of old GT Performer. It really doesn't matter.
There's no rush :)

there's options, I think you want the street not park, as they have better side walls and are more pinch resistant. there's also two sizes, you might want the fat one on the front.
I haven't used any, but they seem to be pretty well talked about on here, will probably get some KHE tyres on my new bike, but think I'll go with thos Lamello skin walls.
-
HOW MUCH???? :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
This is supposed to be cheaper than fast cars.
