Whats the dumbest thing you ever did to your bike when you thought you were making improvement(s)? :uglystupid2:
-
Fake barbed wire. :-[ :-[ :-[
-
covering it in stickers, then taking them all off
-
Clipping playing cards to the chainstay to make it sound like a motorbike :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
-
bread bag fasteners to the brake cables :)i know we all did it :)
-
mine was getting my cousin, to weld some door handles to my frame as it was cheaper than the bolt on ones. they looked proper shit but did the job :LolLolLolLol:
-
Drilled too many holes in my seat, fookin thing was so weak had to get a new one, old man wasn't happy ;D
-
Fitting a CW laidback with support to me silverstreak..
I was only 13 and couldnt reach the bars.

sorry mate no offense but that is truely :idiot2:
;) the things we used to do as kids :LolLolLolLol:
-
Peeling all the gold plastic off my Super Tuff Burner, leaving a chrome frame with gold plastic in the bits I couldn't reach. :LolLolLolLol:
-
Tried my damned hardest to scratch off the lightening streak on my Elina saddle, made a right mess of it aswell.
-
polishing all the blue anodising off the only blue Redneck stem I have ever seen cos I couldnt find a silver TNT.
Oh, hang on .... that was Stodgy! :LolLolLolLol: :2gunsfiring_v1:
-
I did the fake barbed wire thing too - fooking sad!
Daz.
-
Drilling my MX1000, chainring, brake lever, seat and pedal cages to save weight. Looked pants as none of the holes lined up, my brake didn't work as it flexed like fook and my seat cracked and cut my arse :LolLolLolLol:
-
I covered my WHOLE bike in stickers. There was even a small hole for the chain to pass through.
Hmmm, 84 sport, Leary Turbo cranks, gold DXs, DC brake and seat clamp, Performer bars, GT Malet stem, epoch headset. Not bad at all for a thrown together 2nd bike.
Oh, and SS20 is the local skateboard shop that Mon (still) owns.

Ah, Lee now I remember you. :daumenhoch:
Looking back I suppose paint stripping my leary turbos wasnt too good of an idea.
-
wanting Ame Fini's so bad that I bought the last pair available.
Doesn't sound too bad so far but my bike was a blue DB Senior Pro with blue DB bars/stem/seat/post/cranks/pedals/blue 7X's and the grips were...YELLOW AND RED.....bike looked proper shite....
Oh, no i just remembered a better one!!!!! When SPD's came out early nineties I put a set on my BMX and did a few gates at a national, crashed big style and took them straight off. I said then, and stand behind it now, SPD's have NO place in bmx...............
-
i too did the painted whitewall trick to my burner tyres ( which just cracked and flaked) and also repainted the white to my extra burner which ran into the red and turned PINK!! i have a pic i'll have to post up.
-
i remember telling people how weak Skyway Tuffs were. I said they snap if you do Miami Hop-Hops. But I kept on showing people and constantly kept snapping Tuffs. :idiot2:

I dont know. I had all kinds of crap nailed to my wall at home. A massive colection of coke cans (I used to drink loads of it) and bike parts everywhere (there is a opc and chainring on the wall behind me?).
-
1. spray painting my yellow tuffs white
2. Putting griptape on my seat then wondering why i developed a hole in the arse of my "aero" pants
3. Spraying WD40 over my rims to stop the brakes squealing
4. giving away my prolite CC :'(
-
My beloved ACE frame snapped, money was scarce so I grabbed some steel table legs of a school desk, my dads mate welded it up for me, this wouldnt have been so bad except I got him to extend the TT to 21", because we didnt change any other angles I couldnt get the front end up unless I was leaning right over the back of the bike
I still managed to beat Sid Salisbury at rOm race on it :daumenhoch:

"polishing all the blue anodising off the only blue Redneck stem I have ever seen cos I couldnt find a silver TNT"
is that 1" or 1 1/8"

i only made improvements to my bike :)
although cutting one end of the bars and inch shorter to make x ups easier was a bit :idiot2:

Stripping all the paint off my '87 yellow Master, just 'coz it had started to wear off on the toptubes near the seatclamp. Buying a Curtis Freestyler instead of a Haro or Performer in late '84. Giving my remodelled, resprayed and restickered '87 Master to Amos Burke who promptly took all the stickers off, wrecked the chainstays then gave it away.... I'm sure there will be more "mistakes". I'll post when I remember some....
