Title: things youve done on a bmx then realised not a good idea
Post by: jackel on January 26, 2008, 09:30 PM
remember the daftest thing i did was with friend looking at a jump 5ft lump of mud(little hill) at the bottom of a 400yd very steep slope probably get up to about 30mph.well i was the hero out of the gang that would try anything first so off i went with friends looking in awe(probably knowing something was going to happen) as it usually did lol.
set off down this hill like a bat out of hell hit the ramp perfect i flt like elliot out of et until the thorn bush i ended up entwined in bought me back to a crashing reality that pain exists and by god i,d found it that day ;D it took my friends about half an hour to peel me out of the bush lol every little movement hurt ;Dlook back on it and laugh now but at the time :(
also remember friends doing jumps and the front end going up to high and the front of the seat whacking arse cheeks at a great rate of notts :)why is it when ou experiance pain like that you just run and run? does it make you hurt less?no it doesnt but its piss funny for everyone else to see ;D

Wow, How did it happen if you dont mind me asking, did you have a lid on?

Two things.......

First of all, it's not unheard of for people to suffer a broken neck as a result of taking a slam like that whilst wearing a fullface lid (which is what Dave normally wears).  In some resects you could call Dave lucky on this occasion..... (poor choice of words I know, sorry  :-[)

And second of all.......

God forbid, but Trev, if you found yourself having a similar slam - how much protection do you think that pisspot lid you wear is gonna give???

For the record Steve, Rombloke went over the bars to heavy faceplant in the moguls at Rom.   We nearly lost the fooker that day....

Yeah, Dave. Tell us again why you weren't wearing a lid?

trev WTF does that mean  im dissapointed man, dave done anything we have all done apart from you that is and rode  the moguls without a lid on .   bad  trev take that post off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think it was a hot humid day plus local showers
dave mopped his bushy brow's
then rode of forgetting to put his lid on
rest is in the pict

i made sweet love to the ex on my bike but that was a good idea!

dumbest thing i've done on a bike was ride through my school with a mate from the second floor, nailled it down two flights of stairs, through several corridors, and through the sixth form common room! resulted in being chased by about 8 teachers and several detentions but the footage was ace! made it for a project. don't know what happened to the footage!

NOT bunny hopping a pile of building rubble at 11.30pm after clearing it umpteen times already two nights before the national at Hayes, breaking my collarbone in the process.  I still raced with it strapped up, but don't think I even got out of the moto's  :LolLolLolLol:.

I was interested to know if rombloke had a lid on due to the location of his injury. Fairly Unusual. For me to be judgemental would make me a Hypicrit.
Big respect to rombloke for still riding easy to turn your back on the sport after an injury like that . (although it always sucks you back in)

Sorry if I caused any offence by asking the question.

Nah mate, not you at all   ;)

On first inspection Rombloke just had a big fookoff hole in his forehead and a broken jaw.  Only once he was in hospital did we find out just how badly broken he was.

And yeah, big respect for getting back on his bike   :daumenhoch:

I spent 5 hours in A&E to be told no break so could go home, next day couldn't move my entire r/h side so back to the A&E for another 5 hours to find that a dirty great crack was there and they didnt know how the knob jockey missed it the night before  ::).

Learn feeble grinds on a vert ramp, having never done them anywhere. 9ft (maybe higher twobob knows) to arse/hip about 6 times, until my bike broke, I couldn't lie down for a week.

I went to see THE top knee specialist in Glasgow after I wrecked my ACL, late '80's, and he examined it and said it was a normal knee!!!!
I suffered it locking up, folding up, (often during a comp. run!), lots of pain etc. before my local hospital got an MRI scanner a few years later.
"Mr Forsyth, you have a torn ACL and extensive tissue damage..."
Er...........ye-ah! Duh!

It still goes on now.....  I went to my GP for a referral to a private surgeon a few months ago after they'd already diagnosed a torn ACL and two lots of fooked cartilages and the 'doctor' said  'I refuse to believe that anyone who can walk into my office has anything wrong with their knee.'

twat.

I've carried it for donkeys years and learned how to compensate for it, but the quack just wasn't interested.

Hows your knee now?

I think the op has worked, and I've got the muscles back up to strength, but won't REALLY know for another few months. Still can't go snowboarding for a couple of months - although I could do the boarding, a crash could wreck it. Esp. if I caught a toe edge - ouch! Weathers been too crap to test it out on the bike much - a backside boneless will give it a good test! Back at work - bit of joinery - from last Monday. A few grumbles but seems to be holding up.......

And I know EXACTLY what you're saying about compensating for it for years. My fiance is a physio and her friend is the physio that checks me out and reports to the surgeon that operated on me. He said he's amazed that I've been able to ride and snowboard with the amount of damage I had.

I reckon there's a few of us on here that are much the same.....

I'm sure there is.  I'm sure we're all walking round with badly healed injuries that we never got properly sorted. I know my shoulders aren't right....

Backside boneless...... jesus, I can't even imagine trying one of those at the moment!  Even the thought of it makes me twitch slightly  :-[

Glad to hear you're nearly there though   :daumenhoch:
