Title: Customs help
Post by: slurp on January 29, 2008, 01:37 PM
Normally i dont have this problem about US bought stuff but just bought some umstamped landing gear and instead of posting to my US address i use, they are on there way to England as the sellers packer made a mistake.I have been given a Custom number by the seller ending in *****************US.

Is this a US custom number, will i get the item posted to my UK address then have to pay the duty or will i have to collect from a custom holding area and pay the duty there before they release them.

All i know is its gonna cost more :tickedoff:

Any help appreciated.

Yeah if its on its way here and its declared over a certain amount of value (£37 rings a bell) you will probably get a letter through asking you to cough up vat and courier handling charges< its a f##king racket and you wont ge any help at the depot either you have to appeal it through the parcelforce ho,

Customs duty usually applies on:

Goods above £18
Gifts above £36

You then get charged VAT, plus £8 admin fees !  >:(
