Title: Front tyres on Cruiser, fat or thin???
Post by: Sanmarcopizza on February 05, 2008, 07:23 AM
I am building a new school cruiser and the tyres i want are only available in 24x1.75. On a previous cruiser I had I found that I needed to change to a 2.125 front to get the bike to run how I liked. What's peoples experience with this? I think i have noticed cruisers often have same front and back, wheras 20" definately favour fat front thin rear.

:) I`ve also thought the same thing.Just checked both my stock cruisers and they have f/r tyres of the same size.I`ll ask the mother in law,as she knows everything.

I think its a personal thing as to which you prefer, i cant see the
advantage of a 2.25 up front apart from looking like a tractor tyre,
also theres the extra weight issue for the light concious (like me)

Most people run 1.75" front and rear on cruisers.  Fat front tyre not really necessary as the bigger wheels soaked stuff up better than a 20".  And most berms are tarmac'd, so having a fatty up front for grip not so much of an issue either.

I've used the 1.75" Intense Halo tyres for the last 2 seasons.
