Title: need help on redline stem(threads fooked)
Post by: kowalski on February 08, 2008, 02:22 PM
i have got a forklifter stem, which all 4 holes have basically lost their threads and one hole has a bolt snapped down into the hole,
now can i either re drill the holes deeper and have it tapped or redrill them wider and use slightly bigger bolts,
OR BETTER STILL CAN ANYONE ON HERE FIX IT FOR A FEE, OR SUGGEST ANYWHERE IN SURREY THAT COULD  :daumenhoch:
it would be a shame to bin it as it will polish up a1

might be worth looking at helicoils there like a spring you insert and make new threads work great on alloy heads on cars etc so dont see why they wont sort out treads in a stem :)

ok i have looked into helicoil kits, now the bolt size is m6, do i therefore need an m6 helicoil kit please advise those in the know, sounds dumb but surely the holes now need to be drilled out bigger to place in the coils????

try ebay you can always find heli coil kits on there, they should work fine as long as you have enough room to enlarge the holes ;)
