Hello chaps
Got this the other day, it's a bit unusual and I don't recall ever seeing one before...can any one shed any light on it?
Clearly it's a Tange, it's red and it's for BMX - but any ideas on the age or whether it was standard on anything?
Cheers
Dave

Well that's stumped ya all then, eh?
:-\
-
Does it weigh 41 grams? ???
-
DOn't know...why?
-
Just wondered :-\ :LolLolLolLol:
-
Phil, you're just one pepperami short of turning into Pete.
-
Oh no
Actually I asked because I have a scan of some tange stuff, but there's only one clamp on there and it weighs 41 grams :daumenhoch:
-
no pics or anything useful then Phil?

Nothing useful bud, sorry :(

I have one of those. exactly the same.
it's the odd orange-gold anodizing of cheap chinese repops.
so i decided to strip it. and there is no stamping under the label.
the casting is a bit off, so it's my opinion these are repops but not sure of the production era.
-
Yeah, could be, never thought of that.
Mine is stamped with FORGED JAPAN on the top and the casting is pretty good. But it does seem an odity...mine you it came out of a respected distributor, not sure if they dealt with any re-pops there.
Hmmmm the mystery deepens!
-
It might have been something Tange did for a cheap complete or something? Someone mentioned it may have been off a complete Suzuki BMX?
-
the one i got was NOS off ebay. they come up frequently on us ebay. think they are coming out of singapore currently.
this one also says forged in japan, but the finish quality is much less than "authentic" clamps that I bought back when.
-
I had one exactly the same only in silver sold it to rubber 'fookin' ducky and sent it but the git never paid me! >:( :knuppel2:
-
" rubber fooking ducky" :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:
Your killing me!!
Anyways back to the post, i think you been tangeed.........it looks sooooo cheap, my advise is to file it under " reopen in 20yrs time " :P :P

what a surprise daz :2gunsfiring_v1: and you probs had the only other one left ;)
-
Ho hum. Shame, it cost me £15!
But it did come out of a warehouse which had been closed for 20 years and a very reliable source, so not sure on the 'fresh from singapore' theory...but who the fook knows? Or cares?
Anyone wanna buy a seatclamp?
-
Suntour clamps have forged in Japan on the top, have you compared it to a suntour? Tange may have had those made by the same OEM
-
I didn't mean "fresh" from singapore. i meant that they seem to be opening warehouses of old leftover supply. i like moose's theory.
but i have an authentic suntour on my original Kuwa Kz-1. and the style is slightly different. plus it has perfect finish detail/nice casting and stamped suntour across the face.
-
The anno is very similar to the suntour ones and the shape is almost identical apart from the centre strip - which is sunk on this and raised on a suntour. But, there may well be something in that Phil.

-
Dave,it did'nt come on a bike,just bought it seperatly.I would guess approx 1982/83.

Ah, so nice and early then mate.
Thanks for the info dude...I'll see if I can find one in an early 80's mag.

He still has your clamp and he is still up to his old tricks but he is calling himself Mushroom these days. ::) Asking for this and that, promising a payment etc, then going to ground. You know the drill :idiot2:
I got offered it as a trade with this other stuff. Now I know who he really is, I'll be staying well clear....

I got a couple of PMs from Mushroom wanting to buy some stuff. He never replied back, but I'm glad I saw this posting. thanks.
-
No worries.
Hopefully you didn't have to go rooting around in your shed for stuff... drag it out... Photograph it... transfer pics to your PC, then upload them to photobucket... Then send a PM and wait around for a response/payment. Happy days :)
