no not britney spears
but those new fangled things you keep down your forks
trying to set up a new build and all i had to do was insert the star nut and tighten the hex head up
seemed simple enough
so why oh fookin why does the star nut just ride up the forks and then pop out the top ?
the only thing i can think of is that the forks inner diameter is too small to get the star nut to flex and then bite
thus allowing the headset stack to tighten up
any thoughts ?
are star nuts a standard one size bit of kit ?
help

did you fit it the right way round. also it is only used too pinch the forks and the stem together if you tighten it too much it will pull back out. you use the stem bolts to hold the forks.
-
according the to instructions i did
\_/ down into the forks from the top
\_/
but as i tighten there's a light resistance but no real tightening
previous bikes its tightened nicely

thats the right way to fit. maybe you need one with bigger flanges. try your local bike store they should sell single ones.

Try flaring the bits out a little so that it grips a bit tighter before you get the allen key on it :daumenhoch:. What make is it btw?

i believe it to be a chris king one
as it came with the top cap and allen / hex head bolt
the other option i have is to use a thro bolt type i guess

Or one like the Xlite and Cane Creek ones which use a sleeve with a rubber seal ring :daumenhoch:
