Title: trouble fitting hutch doughnut seat clamp.
Post by: oldsky on December 17, 2005, 05:36 PM
I know that sounds a bit dim but just puchased a doughnut clamp and I'm fitting it to my ripper but it does seem to be very tight.  Most of the SE bikes in the Museum have mx hinged clamps on them - is this because the rippers seat tube is an odd size? I always thought that clamps were universal. If I lube the clamp up a bit it will fit but I dont want to force something on that shouldnt be forced.   Has anyone had trouble before.

Thanks
Andy

no...its because hutch donut seat clamps are renowned for looking nice but work crap...

get a hinged dc if you want it to work...or get an allen key 3 feet long to tighten the bolt...
