I am in need of some tyres.
The tyres I'm using are a bit worn.
So I thought I'd invest in some new one's for my first Summer OS Race.
What's everones preference?
Skinny at rear, larger front?
Comp 3's?
Comp 3 copies?
Whats the low-down on racing tyres?
BITD I just had 1.75" whitewalls front and rear. And that arrangement wont do me any good for racing.
Any recommendations would be considered epecially if its a cheap option and a wise one.
Thanks

BITD - 1.75 Comp III all round. Cant go wrong then cant go wrong now..... :daumenhoch:

i use wilko copy comp 3's - 4.99 each :daumenhoch:

you really cant beat the comp 3 tread
larger in the front can give more grip and confidence into turns and a smaller rear is less rolling resistance , also stops the steering being twitchy but back in the day they had matching fronts and rears mostly
if my knowledge of racing cars is correct having more pressure in the rear will mean itl lose grip first ( no one wants the front to slide out on them , its easier to control the rear stepping out ) , a slightly soft tyre will leave a bigger contact patch on the ground , dont go too soft though otherwise itl be squishy

Has anyone got some contacts for some good Comp III (or copies) that dont cost the earth?
-
comp 3 copies at wilkinsons 3.99 eqch but only do 175s
-
AS above
I have gone back to using a 2.125 comp IV on the front tho as im a little bigger than the average rider and needed a little more grip.

i got my comp 3 from cbgill fat and thinny too at great price try pm him ,but im sure the wilkos ones would be fine .or get comp 3 for the rear and leave the thick dirt tyre on the front that was already on the bike
-
Yeah the front one was okay.
I want a few sets of tyres because I'm going to have a set on some tuff's and a set on some wheels I just bought.
Plus a couple of spare ones to use in the future.
I plan on hitting the tracks for some practice because I definitely need it.
I have been making a lot of changes to RS1.
All I need now is a black brakeset and I'm ready to roll.
The new seatpost clamp worked a treat too.
