Just bought a Odyssey 13t freewheel and it rattles, sounds like a ball bearing loose. Before I take a trip back to the shop does anyone know if this is normal as they are different inside from what I understand.????????
-
just had a play around with mine and there doesnt seem to be any play lateraly
no "rattle"
kinda tings as it engages
is yours pretty silent ?
-
Everything else seems fine, not fitted it to the bike yet, no play just took it out of the box and gave it a shake and sounds like a ball bearing is loose, will go back to the shop tommorow and try another one if they have any.
Thanks for checking and hopefully thats not you in your avatar :LolLolLolLol:

lets just hope the spotty youth you will inevitably have to deal with doesnt give you a dirty look and say " dont you know anything about bmx they alllll do that )
best to check as i dont see why they would rattle
i would take mine off and see but i really cant be arsed lol
have you used one before ? ive heard that they can give up sooner than larger freewheels , ive had mine a couple of years with no problem and the silence is great but if it skips once throw it away :)
i hope odyssey doesnt stop making them now everyones going cassette :-\ a gsport ratchet would be really nice but i like 13tooth and ive only heard of them making them in 10 :-\

It's alright in the bike shop got to know them quite well over the last couple of years and even look after one of the blokes cars.
Not used one before, but it is for my son's 16inch bike and he is only 6 so cant see it being too much of an issue.
Khe make a 12t freewheel now, I have a FIT wheelset on mine and last time I cleaned the cass, I used air tool oil on the pawls and it seems quiter than before and it's not slipped either.

I've just fitted one to my t-nez, and when i got it out of the box it did rattle but it is fine, I asked my mate at the shop and they do do that apparently
I used to use the KHE 13 tooth freewheel as it was solid and silent, but can't seem to get them many places now

just been to the shop, and they all rattle???????

???
learnt something new
hmmm do i take mine off and check ::) ;D

It's a freewheel, if its working, leave it, if its not doing what its sposed to then take it off, but I don't think you need to take it off to see if it rattles :D

i've just checked it and it rattled too.....
but then realised it was because the nuts weren't tightened up, so the washers were making the rattling noise.... :LolLolLolLol:
holding the washers, there's no rattling noise.
did you check that Gary?

dont people that smoke cigars shake them by their ears and then sniff them :P
