"So, Bestwick was on Ellis’ show yesterday. Vert’s gone from the X-Games unless something major happens to change it. It’s replaced by super park. No one knows what super park is, it could be vert with some park elements, it could just be some really big park setup, apparently the riders are meeting with ESPN soon to find out what’s exactly going on.
If you look at the history of the X-Games you’ve gotta wonder WTF is going on. Vert was their premier sport. Don’t believe me? Think of all the “names” that came from the X-Games, the people who got pushed hard. Mirra, Hawk, White, vert, vert, vert. Did any skateboarder besides Sheckler and maybe Eric Koston get “big name status” from X-Games street? (P-Rod maybe?)
It’s a weird thing that’s going on. The X-Games, love ‘em or hate ‘em, used to be like the world championship of alternative sports, now they’re doing their best to be a footnote in sports that already have their own thing. Do you really think that Chad Reed or Bubba Stewart would rather have an X-Games gold medal than an AMA #1 plate? Honestly, does winning an X-Games gold in rally even matter if you’re chasing WRC points? Hell, the only notable thing about X-Games rally is that it was one of the last races for Colin McRae before his untimely death. I love rally, I love supercross and I love supermoto, but seriously. To quote Ellismate, “Why not have F1 in the X-Games.”

a big company dropping bmx , whatever next :2funny:

as a freeride mountain biker i cant stand slopestyle/crankworks.
its taken the big mountain freeride and changed it to a course you can ride(and some do) on a bmx.
the rampage is back this year so we'll see a return to the big travel / massive drops :daumenhoch:

i'm the total opposite,i "freeride" but i'd rather watch slopestyle than DH or freeride.
where's the skill in dropping in off a mountain?

to be honest i'm into north shore style riding.
slopestyle courses lack the imagination and burlyness of some of the shore constructions

I think the idea of Slopestyle is to compress the action of a big mountain into an arena for viewing, if that brings the public and attention I see it as good.
After all if its fun to watch, it can't be too bad?

yet another backflip variation etc....
would be good if they changed it up a bit .
its big wheeled bmx that real bmx does better

Aye, ditto. I do enjoy watching it but you are watching what people were doing on bmx's three years ago. Albeit on a bigger scale right enough.
North Shore I used to ride (Lennox Forest) got totalled... >:(

Ah, some great pics there. Off to Wales in a couple of weeks for family stooff - gonna give the last couple of sections of the Marin Trail a hammering. Maybe get down to Betys - dodaa if I get a chance.
