I havent seen it but a friend sent me a text about it. Here is what he said:

"Graphite Tuffs ... Haro Frame ... MX1000s ... Redline Flights ... 1978? DONFIKSO!"

The add also says:
"Know your History".     What a joke

if your gonna spend money on ads then at least make em correct. (though i dont think a number plate instead of the haro freestyler would look too good either.)
should have put more thought into it. :idiot2:

i guess they probably didn't think that so many experts from that era would be reading it. i bet no new school kid would know any different.

could have started with a plate , then 82 a torker framed haro, and so on as a timeline to present day and in all fairness i dont work in the cycle division , and that picture is crap aswell which makes me think it was a rush job ,cause mr x knows im into bmx and could have asked for a photo.

Would any new school kid even care? If a company is older than a kid has been riding for, or old than the kid is, then its OLD. so what?

Im not sure who an add like that would be aimed at.

Perhaps they were just trying to do something that would appeal to the growing old school scene, and although it might not be quite right, perhaps we shouldn`t be so hard on them  :police:

all of the above was pointed out to them before the ad was even placed...... also bear in mind it isn't essentially a direct Haro ad, its a distrobutor ad.
The whole concept of the 30 year history thing is a great idea but like I told young Adam when he asked for a gen1 pic "i think you'll find thats 82 mate, hence 30yrs would actually be 2012, you should go with a plate & some stickers..."

They should put a plate on a New School bike, and put "30 years of number plates"  :LolLolLolLol:

Even the original pic http://www.jtfreestyle.com/media/picts/Bikes/1983%20BMX%20PLUS%20BOB%20HARO%20Cover%20bike%20JTFreestyle2.jpg (http://www.jtfreestyle.com/media/picts/Bikes/1983%20BMX%20PLUS%20BOB%20HARO%20Cover%20bike%20JTFreestyle2.jpg)

here, says it's based on the BMX Plus cover from 83.

KNOW YOUR HISTORY

says it all really, maybe they should have been more anal
Title: Re: haro ad in new ride
Post by: teamsano on March 26, 2008, 11:14 AM
i burst out laughing when i saw that ad.

its almost as bad as the sunday ads, or that mirraco ad on the back of dig, 'rob wise 180' and he only does a 90'.

printing 'know your history' is a serious joke when whoever designed the ad is lacking in knowledge. and thats before i mention the low reZZ scan.

You make the statement 'know your history' when you dont know it yourself.  Very poor IMO.

What is the month of the mag this is in?  Who is the distributor and is there any contact information for them?

Cheers
