Afternoon chaps
I wonder if anyone out there had any tips for getting the chain ring locking nut off a one piece crank please?
I've got the crank out of the frame and removed the non drive nuts, bearings etc. - I'm now left with the crank with the chain ring attached - it looks as if I need a some sort of spanner to get it off as the locking nut appears to have flattened sides - a bit like a squared off circle on opposite sides? I have tried every spanner I can get hold of but non are big enough...
Am I missing something really obvious?
Cheers :daumenhoch:

yes
you need a bigger spanner

:LolLolLolLol: thought so...
Silly question...

think its 32mm :) or a big adjustable spanner :)

Nice one mate :daumenhoch:- looks like I'm off to Focus DIY (again - for about the 15th time this weekend - been doing up the bathroom see...)

Pair of mole grips workd for me :daumenhoch:

Or grip it in a vice. :daumenhoch:

Get yourself a 12" adjustable spanner and grind the stop off for the adjuster, you have a much larger range. That's what I used for the nut. :daumenhoch:

pipe grips or monkey wrench :daumenhoch:

pipe grips as he says.
ive used a hammer and chisel before, and that seem to work.
remember to turn it the right way though.
