Title: Aint Prince Albert Cranks Brilliant!
Post by: SaMAlex on March 29, 2008, 07:49 PM
There is often loads of talk about Prince Albert Cranks being crap and snapping. The fact that there were 4 different designs, and in the end they stopped making them dont help. Say what you like but I still used my set for several years with no problems at all.

Anyway. Check out this set of Mk3 Prince Alberts I just won on Ebay. One arm is snapped in half, the other arm has snapped in the same place but its been welded back together. OK, Maybe Gogo, Dave Young, and just about everyone who used a set are right .... and I must be as smooth as silk when I ride!  8)

Yeah. Like I said in the sticky about PAs, the first spindles were small diameter with deep splines and they snapped. When they went up to a larger "profile" spindle, the larger spline boss clipped the inside wall of the arm and the started snapping there.

are you saying im not smooth

Gogo, I guess I could be saying that Im smoother than you, or you are heavier than me. Its a loose, loose, and I didnt MEAN to say either.
Its probably that you just go bigger than me  :daumenhoch:

Ah, what you two forget is that Im not often more than a few feet above the ground/ramp. Lip tricks dont really kill cranks.

Havin said that, Im not gunna ride hard on a bike with PAs on it. Cos Id be pi55ed off if I had to fix another set!
