Title: first time after 24years
Post by: meticulous on March 30, 2008, 06:29 PM
on a quarter pipe today, god i'm crap, i can hardly bunny hop let alone aerial, started by trying to kick turn and only just managed 90 degrees, yes 90 not even 180, after about 20 goes i was doin 360 kick turns, there was too much grip on the back tyre though as i stopped going round with my front wheel in the air, maybe something to do with my 16stone wieght, i'm sure if i wasnt looking out for my 5 year old getting in everyones way i would crack 540.

lots of other kids around ambarrassing me, but not so sure of the look of the latest bikes, they all look black and boring, and look the same, my quad looked the part, shame about the fat fook riding it :LolLolLolLol:

This thread is so reassuring!!!!!

I've never done an ariel but I'm hoping to do one this year. :-\

It's just finding the time, after work, kids, house, car etc

Things are just so different from bitd, its just good too hear I'm not the only one struggling for time!!

I know what you mean i went to my local quarterpipe today. I also havent been on a bike for 23 years and could only manage a kick turn, its good to know somebody else was trying as hard as me today well done mate  :daumenhoch:

Met a few of the locals and they were great, gave me plenty of encouragement and above all did not laugh when i fell off  :) I am determined to carry on and ride as much as possible despite being 14 stone  :)

Yeah your right about most of the new school rides being dark and bland compared to what we rode BITD, but times have changed. I have brought a cheap new school ride while im learning again so i can let the fook go if i bail out  ;D

Pickle is right get yourself to the novice night at creation and we can practice our kick turns together  :LolLolLolLol:

Im hoping creation has a curb-endo foam pit  :2funny:

Fook that.

If there is a foam pit then I'm coming covered in Tar.

I'll jump in and when I come out I'll be padded to the max.

I haven't even tried a kickturn yet.   I can't even remember which way I used to turn and which leg I used to have forward.

Last time I did kickturn was 84/85.

I can do a bunny hop though.

I can't do a wheelie because my balance is so poor I keep falling to the side.

Hopefully the weather will start improving and I can get out and about a bit more and get practicing.

Sign up for Creation.   It will be a good for all novices.

If Zed needs somewhere to stay the night then he can stay with HEYWOOD BMX and me.

We've got a family room (3 Adults) at the local travelodge?

£66 for 3 = £22.

Only downside is that I snore like a bull elephant.

But if we get a few bevvys on board with the curry then you should be alright.

LMK if anyone need a place to crash!!!
