I could be wrong, but it seems that just lately everyone and their dog have been digging looptail pk's from their lofts/garages and selling them - and it seems the frames are going for way less than they were a few months ago.. wasnt long ago that Id expect a good / ok condition unbroken frame to go for about £350 upwards - now it seems that theyre going for a bout £250-300 ish, sometimes less - even two rad members selling in the for sale section now for about £250 posted, thats amazing compared to what they would have been going for at the end of 07.
What do you all think? Theres even one with a repair and a cracked seattube for £210 or 0ffers on ebay, thats still crazily cheap!

looptails are the most popular that i paint at the mo, i honestly couldn't count how
many i've done since the start of the year :)

i was talking to bananacock about this kinda thing earlier, bikes do seem to go from being the talk of the town to the whisper of the village every few months. 6 months back you could by a tai 85 haro for £150 or so, now people are happy to spend big bucks on them. TA's were getting daft money a couple of months back getting into bidding wars on ebay. Nora's are getting a look in too, a few black builds on the go. I struggled to sell one for £200, tried for a period of months, sold in no problem last week. Very unpredictable....why? Fashion? What's the answer....?

I think it's all about how many are on the bay at any given time. If a bike that hasn't been listed for a while suddenly pops up, a dozen or so people potential bidders will have accumulated and it'll sell for a fortune. Then anyone who has another one of the same tucked away in their loft sees this stratospheric price in completed items and promptly shoves theirs on the bay too. Now there's a few in the listings, and that's all it needs to quell the panic that they've all gone. Bidders start to relax and won't be panicked into paying too much, everyone calms down, and the price goes back down again. Good old-fashioned supply and demand, but with the added feeling of dread we all share that - one day - all the really nice 80's stuff will soon be in the hands of us collectors. Then we're all stuffed :daumenhoch:

The market is gonna really pick up and get worse than last year

as said before supply and demand, just sold a nice looptail to cherrypicker for £250, repainted but nice. Its a good price as I have some and you can see them every day on ebay, they are nice but not really rare. The rare stuff will keep going up I think, PK Rippers will always get money as they are popular.

they were overpriced. maybe they are back to normal. I couldn't sell a mint black restored nora cup for 220. effin decals cost 25 plus post. undrilled forks and everything. ??? about a year ago i couldn't sell a pre serial hutch pro racer for 100 quid. Today a guy at work who's building a late 80's gt performer wanted to knock me down from 40 quid for a mint pair of alloy hubbed tuff's. Sold them before i got into the house to scarey after bumping into him. Sold a one piece crank on here for 45 quid with BB. stupid bent threaded bar for 40+ notes. couldn't sell a mint dura ace 3 piece for 30 but a OPC for 40 is ok. i don't get it sometimes.

Well, unbelievabl i just scored a looptail ripper frame for £190
needs a reweld in the usual seatpost area, nothng major, and probably a repaint, but at that price Im not complaining one little bit! Superbike Dan here i come!
