It has to be the Pro Burner. Looks like it has just come out of the shop.

Didn't think they actually ever sold any of em. :o

I remember when I got my Burner back in 82, I saw the Pro in the Raleigh brochure and really wanted one. Only ever saw one in a shop though.

It's a damn good effort and deserves the votes.

was between muxters torker, matt's blue red race inc., jese's trickstar but eventually the DY cmae out on top for me. Like the red white and chrome colourscheme. Nice work Jon. I would have voted for reily's centurion but it isn't in the comp. Like that flaired trouser bmx loads.

That Pro is awesome. Not a bike I would buy, but you have to give it the credit it deserves.

Post by: greentoad on December 23, 2005, 08:21 PM
Hi all - the vote is in.  :santa_afro:

I just had to spend a few quite moments with pencil and paper and make notes of each build that just took me away. I have been browsing the pics for days. It is great that there are so many different builds, and that we all like different types because the result is that there are so many amazing bikes out there. I started with a Haro, 3 Hutches (and i'm not a big fan), JMC, Raleigh, Robinson and the MBK.

From the 8 at the start, and that was from being very ruthless as there are just so many Gems, I then picked down to 5, but could not get any lower.

In the end I voted from which bike I could imagine riding and that could take my weight and also give the grin factor - so as Rich did, in the end went with my heart.

Thanks all, I'm so glad to be back in a great hobby where so much time and pride is taken by all into their bikes, here's to an even better 2006 where more finished old school builds will come to light.....

Cheers.

greentoad

Well I have to say that it has been a pleasure checking out all these great rides. As most of you have mentioned, it wasn't easy as there are some insanely good BMX's there, from the beautiful white MRD to that incredible gold plated Pro Star. My vote finally went to Dan-Dares chrome Robinson though, as there's something about it which, for me, really captures what it's all about. The next thing to do though guys, before you go out and get toasted for Christmas, is to stick all those wonderful rides into the gallery so I can drool over them some more.  :santa_afro:

It was down to 3 for me. Sorry Muxter, but you're too far away for me to ever get to see yours, so you're out. Jon, that DY is sooo gorgeous, but a bike without a brake won't win for me. So that goes to my 3rd choice. My vote is cast.

I would also like to congratulate all on Radbmx for the superb extremely high quality builds, we really have some amazing bikes on this site.

Lets not forget that many of us on here have numerous builds that could have been added, but due to Bike of the Year rules only 1 build was allowed.

Well done everyone.

Cast my vote: Frosty's Kuwahara awesome ride. Took me absolutely ages to decide as I was struggling with description best bike and what goes to make the best bike. To me every bike that was entered was a winner truely fantastic builds Dudes well done :santa_afro:. In the end Frosty's bike just nudged it for me but to be fair it could have been any of them.

It sure is difficult.  Frostys is one of my 6...not just 'cause it's a Ku.....all the robinsons are doing it for me too......couple of freestylers......All the entrants are excellent examples.

had to go with sir radmans changa
i loved it when i 1st seen it

but i must say the laserlite, robinson, the jmc,the magnificant trickstars etc etc were so close

but the spin off was between roms gen one and dave's tangy skyway for 2nd and 3rd

more to the candy red amazing trickstar

al of you regardless are winners far to many to menion im sure you will all agree

It's a hard one as all the bikes submitted are fantastic, a real treat. Julian's beautiful Burner, the 24k Hutch, that MAD Zeronine, and all the rest.....  :)

I voted Zippy's Robinson though, great build and it's just such a gorgeous looking bike, real purrdy !

I'm  still stunned!! Someone said to me the other night that this yeay they are gonna enter a Meteorlite and should win hands down and i said that they will come second to my dog Turd with a pair of z-rims and a pair of cw bars attached!

Nice bike but, well...................its a burner...

Well, technically it's not really a Burner - it's a top notch japanese Tange frame with high end parts - it just has Raleigh Burner stickers but...

Why shouldn't a Burner win...even if it was a standard one? I've got a mint mk2 Burner and a very nice Mk1 Ultra.

They may not be the best bikes but they look great in the collection and are as much a part of the old school scene as anything else.

You all loved my Firebird but failed to bid as it was pink.

Should have entered the badlander, that would win on rarity :)
