Title: help needed on new school quad idea

on the new frames the forks are threadless.can you get threads put into the forks and fit a 1.1/8 headset? has anyone done this? is it possible? :)

and if you cut threads into it
wouldnt it go back to 1"

Not sure the threaded headset parts are available to fit that size  :-\.

just an idea i was thinking of think the outer of the forks would still be 1.1/8 just need to know if someones tried it :)

Argos Cycles in Bristol will thread forks for you.  They charge £20 per inch of thread.  I would imagine you can get it done cheaper, but at least it is a base cost.

if its possible think i,ll buy the threading kit to do them :) got to wait to get measurements etc hopefully it can be done.

MTB's used to run 1 &1/8th threaded headsets just before threadless came into play but I dont think you will get a bmx quill stem to fit an 1 & 1/18 fork?

You can use reducers and run a 1" threaded Landing Gear set up as shown on this late 90's alloy Quad:-

but I dont see the point? there are loads of nice clamp on stems and some retro ones to boot, why not run one of those?

if its one of the limited edition baby blue quad it comes with a hole in the front forks and a rear brake bridge for early type brakes, so maybe you could then!

i know that, but dont they need a threaded headset to compete in the class(o/s that is)?

its got a 1.1/8 head set even if its converted to 1" its not the normal spec on the bike so wouldnt even be considered for old school racing :)

will see when its done. i am wanting threaded headset for that retro look though.hopefully frame and forks will be with me by friday and off to the master powdercoaters next week :) think its going to be trial and error :) :)
knowing my luck more error :)
