Git a stem stuck in a set of forks. Cant shift em for love nor money. Anyone got ant ideas?
-
I had this problem once and I sprayed loads of penetrating oil down the fork stem and left to soak. Then I clamped a metal bar in the stem where you would mount a set of bars and twisted it.
-
yeah tried that but i think the stem has now loosened from the clamp cos there is a little omvement but the quill doesnt seem to be moving :-[ probablt have to do a bit of drastic hammering up the steerer. :knuppel2:
-
soak it in diesel for a few days
shame if the stems a gonner
-
Diesel!!! not heard that one before/
Will try that when i get my truck back tomorrow :daumenhoch:
-
yeah kinda new to me too , i heard about it as a fella had a piston siezed in a block , pour some down the plug hole , leave for a while and it frees it off
-
Diesel does work well.
IMPORTANT NOTE
When soaking any stuck object in diesel, please make sure that you are doing it in a small enclosed room whilst smoking a cigarette. *
