Despite me never even seeing a real Skyway BITD, something about the name, the frames, and the exclusiveness always really endeared me to the brand. I did once own a T/A frame about 10 years ago, but it was just a knock abput bike that I didnt properly appreciate at the time.
I now own a survivor T/A (just in process of being restored), and a NOS streetbeat and along with a Skyway Recreation banner and NOS race jersey have stated to build a Skyway collection, that only 4 months ago (when I bought my first frame - an Aero Reflex) could only of dreamt about.
Anyone else turn their noses up at Gen 1's, Rippers (surely the most over-rated BMX of all time) and the rest and purely devote all there time and money to Skyway?
If so, I want to hear from you.

why are gen 1's and rippers overrated? turn your nose up at a tuff burner, yes! but not a ripper or gen 1, they get all the credit they deserve, they were exclusive, expensive, and built by the men that actually rode them and knew what was right.
Not by a pen pushing, desk sucking, blotter jotter :Aresehole:

I love Skyway. It was watching Neil Ruffell (R.I.P.) ride that first got me into BMX. After he retired, Craig Campbell and Carlo Griggs were the ones to watch.

I like Skyway, the Tuffs were the wheels to have BITD & I think the TA is the best all round Frame ever made & it looks so cool :smitten:
-
No doubt about it Skyway was class BITD, Look at the riders who chose to ride TA frames for freestyle when there was much newer stuff about,
Hoffman
Dave Young
Gerry Galley
-
Rippers (surely the most over-rated BMX of all time)
So true.
I do like a nice TA, but I think I have enough bikes to keep me going for now.

moi :D
i had all sorts of wheels, z rims, ogk, simplex, etc and got shut of em all cos all i wanted was a set of SKYWAYS.
i used to watch bmx beat and see the little fella carlo grigs on a streat beat and i would have liked one, but i never did, now they seem to be available easily not like the rides i had.
TBH i'm getting back into the swing of things but i remember the later 80's tuffs being better than the early ones, i have a set of brand new still got the halfords stickers on tuffs from about 87. never seen a bike they have. i also have for my DP Firebird a set of alloy hubbed Tuff 11's in black, i love looking at them, i had mentioned to me "graphite skyways" yesterday and i came over all queezy :P,i seem to remember graphite skyways or some specials.
where can i find out more about me old school skyways????
are the new tuffs on raleighs the same as the late 80's ones hence why people want alloy hubbed ones as they are deffo old school 80's??
