-
neil deffo had talent thats for sure. cool pics.
-
Probably not appropriate to ask but what happened to Neil R?
In my opinion he was the raddest of the bunch back in the day, shame to hear he is no longer with us. :(
-
I believe he struggled with mental health issues which resulted in him taking his own life.
Take a look on Andy Ruffell's web site theres some nice pics there's also some great pics on this site.
-
Isn't that Andy standing on the stage rightside .
Neil was a great ramp rider what happened to style like that you don't see it very often
puppet airs, opposite side one hand one foot, stretched can-cans etc.
-
Sure is well spotted.
-
Andy at same demo.

Fantastic Pics Stodgy.
Looking at those pics I noticed something interesting. (Well interesting to me!)
I always noticed that although Neil usually used white EZ bars, at KOS 85 he actually used Chrome EZ bars.
Your pics clearly show him with white bars (and orange grips). However other shots have him with Chrome bars and green grips.
I've come to the conclusion that he must have bent or snapped the original white bars and maybe used a spare set later on.
Craig rode that comp with a chrome Pro-Lite with green Tuffs. Maybe he used one of Craig's spares??

Blummin 'Eck. Those pics bring the hairs up on back o' me neck!
The blue lid rider is Wayne L. Sometimes something is so obvious you miss it.. :idiot2:
Thanks for all the pics so far,Steve,Stodgy n Trev etc. Fantastic.
Great topic and a reminder of a Great rider. I hope Andy pops in here to have a look sometime.
-
He had a couple of different bikes Trev - you'll notice the orange seat on vert changes to white for flatland also. I suspect the magazine pics with the chrome bars were taken before the comp started (or after) as there are no spectators and the weather is so much better.
If memory serves me right I think Campbell rode two different bikes too.

Really good to see those pics, thanks for posting.
At that time craig was riding the green/chrome prolite for ramps(free-wheel) and a chrome/blue bike for flat that ran a coaster.
Pete hawkins always had a load of spare parts in the tour van. (thats the guy walking across in the woody pic)
Looks like hugo gonzales watching in the side glide pic.

Didnt the contest get rained off but the sun came out later and the skyway USA team still did their demo. Then the actual KOC happened the following weekend? Im sure we all went down there 2 weekends running.
