Post by: homsie on April 13, 2008, 09:35 PM

Right not been on the scene for ages and loads has changed. Long are the days when i can fit on my old Redline 600A. What size frame would i need to get started. I am 6 foot and 90 kgs.

depends on whether or not you want to race in the new school section (loads of fast, fit fookers)

or the old school events( creaking knees, arthritis, tennis elbow, loose headsets, skyways, waving as you ride round)

old school race is classed as 1" threaded forks, and calliper brakes.

Ha ha, loving the sound of the old school crew.  But i know i will want to start getting serious after a while. Will have to see how it goes. Start off old school and get a cheap rig. if the old racer in me is still in me then i will bring out the big gunns.

Best thing to do is try a few frames and see what feels right as height doesn't necessarily determine what frame to get.

However, as a benchmark, the starting point for a 6-footer would be a 21.25"/21.5" top tube on a new school bike.

How much do you want to spend on a bike mate.

I have a complete 21.5" new school hi end race bike that i might sell.
I was going to race it but injury has hit and i'm only up for cruising the tracks with the old schoolers now. These new school boys are far too quick for me anyway.

If you're interested PM me and i'll ping some photo's over too you.
