Title: poole panthers track (could it be re-opened)
Post by: zed4130 on April 17, 2008, 12:20 PM
This is just a thought, as i did my neck in last week at the panthers track, tore ligaments and damaged muscle  :buck2:  I got thinking ,how easy would it be to re-open this track, its kinda there, would need alot of work, plus not sure why it closed, i heard a thing about a rare lizard, there are lizards here coral plays with them,  :)  it would be great to have a local track up and running, so my question is, would this be impossible to do, and would the local council help ? thanks

I think this would make a great little track poss more like Mk's track, as the bournemouth one is a bit extreme , so would make a nice alternative, plus there is the sports college/ leasure center next to it, so could be part of it ? poss i suposse too many tracks close together ? any ideas would be a help , as i wouldnt know were to start, bournemouths club might help ? imagine the panthers back  :4_17_5:

Paul

i would say that your first port of call is the council, they would be able to tell you if there is any conservation order on the land.

then i'm guessing they would need to give permission for the track to be re-opened (that's if they are the current owners of the land?)

Paul you could try PM'ing / speaking with Jazzye (justin) about the Hersden track

small 4 man track ideal for the local community etc
Hersden track has been a huge success in that town
ideal example to quote

or Pm Humps - he knows a fair bit about starting tracks and running the club

He was there on Sunday at Andover chatting to me about me getting back in the saddle, wont be long now mate.

Complete bollox, a  lot of this rare Snake/lizard etc etc  :idiot2:

I have competed in a  British Championship (motorcycle) Enduro  for many years thats  held at Bordon Camp in Hampshire.. Its called the  "Natterjack "    and named after a very rare Natterjack Toad...

Many events are run in this  huge army training area, right in the middle of its breading ground ...      Car Rallies, Numerous Bike Enduros, trials ,  Mountain bike events, and off Course Army manovers  365 days a year...

Has this effected the Natterjack Toad ....     Has it F+++

As I have said before these reptiles have not just moved in over night???       Very easy for the Council just to use this as an excuse to close tracks , By-ways etc  >:( :(

shame

the site my old trails were on was "protected" for over ten years , the burnt down holiday park was abandoned so we thought our trails were safe for a long time

it was primo land as the whole place had views of the sea and a beach was next to it

planning for new houses eventually went through , i guess money talks  >:(

perservere , the uk is pushing cycling at the moment  :daumenhoch:

were the snakes/lizards there before the track , bet they were

Geoff is indeed a great bloke, on my 16th birthday at the 1985 European Championships in Barcelona, he and Dave Wallace (Kuwahara Team Manager) pulled my trousers and pants down, poured a bottle of wine over my nether regions and rolled me around in sand.

Geoff also used to race cruisers big time, on Tim March's old Bassett cruiser which he sold only a few years ago for a pittance!

Perry, that's gotta be the raddest avatar ever!!!!!!!!!!  8) ;D

With regards to getting your track up and running again it's already past the hardest stage of planning permission (already there!)...

So get a club formed, bombard your council with facts, details about BMX racing (they don't really know the difference between the BMX disciplines so educate them) and promo the sport and it's benefits (rip stuff from my site to use), get the local media involved..., work with the councils grant person to aim money at your new club (councils rarely have a pot of gold these days but can get access to all kinds of cash if it's club related and directed)...

Be patient, it can take over a year to really see things happen...

PS, Hot MILF works have better results with fat councillors...  :daumenhoch:
