I'd like to get some new cranks for my Fly micromachine - something a bit lighter than the stock ones that came with it - but I have no idea what to buy. Budget isn't an issue, something around 170mm would be great. Anyone have any ideas?
-
odyssey wombolts are good,
you cant go wrong with profiles too if you want an odd size :daumenhoch:
they even make a flatland specific crank,
-
Khe Hindenbergs are very light, not sure on length's though
-
i run 165 mm hindenburgs
-
hindenburg 2 peice or suelo cranks.
-
Primo Hollowbites with Ti Axle (170's available.)
-
profile
-
Didn't yours break?
-
Everything breaks I reckon. I'd still only reccommend Profiles, but my Odyssey 41thermals have been faultless. Not sure you'll find a set now though, and especially in a small size...
So, Profile with a cheeky Ti axle :daumenhoch:

-
I've been running fly cranks for the last 6 weeks.

Definetly leaning towards a set of Profiles, 170mm with Ti axle - £164 from Alans. Chrome.

Be VERY careful buying from these, they have ripped me off on a set of Odyssey cranks and a Sun cruiser rim :2gunsfiring_v1:
AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:) DINGO :)
-
get in touch with mark aka dingo he has some really nice primos for sale good price and light /strong really very good crankls
-
Profiles all the way Gary and with a Titanium spindle/axle if you can get them.
There's no better crank if you ask me, I've had Flights and all sorts but I always come back to Profiles. Flights look cool and there's no doubt they're good cranks and there's many other new school ones that are excellent too but Profiles really can't be beat in my opinion..

I've not had a chance to ride conjoined cranks myself yet... but i've heard nothing but Good things...
Diamond back/ Nike 6.0 rider Leon Perkins rides them and he goes BIGGG!!!... he's had no problems!!
They're 'apparently' stronger & lighter than Profile's... even with the Ti crank axle!!
So Macneil conjoined cranks ( which go on Profile Titanium crank axles ) are most definatley the lightest out there!!
I'm using Profile's now but i'm deffo gonna swap for Macneils!!!
I just wish they came in Chrome!! ( Black or White only! ) :(
-
Thanks for all the replys guys - given me some good ideas....

-
I use Profile for racing
and Wethepeople royals on my park bike they run the same spindle as a profile,
but I'm sure they're lighter arms and have been great for the last 12 months :)

....and now in Orange!
-
im a profile fan if people go away form them its not long untill they are back! what ever you do do not buy fly cranks there not worth the box they come in even the new ones
-
I think I'll stick with the Profiles! Would it be wise to get the Ti axle as i don't just do flatland - far from it in fact - but I'm not hard on my landings....
Better to stick with the std. axle for strengths sake?
-
if anything the ti axle is stronger,
i've had mine for nearly 5 years and the splines are all still straight as a die :daumenhoch:
its one of the only parts on the bike that genuinely benefits from being made from titanium, compare the weights :LolLolLolLol:
make sure you use ti prep when you fit it though, between any part of it the comes into contact with steel :daumenhoch:
-
What`s TI prep Joe ?
-
sorry bill i was being a flashpants again,
its just copper grease mate :daumenhoch:
its stops galvanic corrosion, where the 2 metals weld themselves together,
-
Fook, I`d better start using that then, I`ve got 4 ti axles on the go at the moment on various bikes, and none with any copper grease on :idiot2:
-
I think the cranks come with the stuff - I was wondering what the "special grease included" was! Thanks for the heads up.
Ti axle it is then!
-
It's a good shout to build everything with some copper grease on the surfaces, it stops all forms of corrosion, will haveten shut up a creaky crank and also allows for a better and more equal tightening of stuff - like stem bolts for example ;)
-
if anyone needs a "dollop" of this stuff pm me :daumenhoch:
