Is there a difference, if so what is it, mine seems to have developed some play, only way to get rid of the play is to tighten the stem down really tight, then the bars are hard to turn??????
Think I need a new headset, just want to make sure I get the right one???
Cheers
Gary
Problem solved fitted new headset tonight, had a ride up the chippy and all is well. FSA Impact

Gary it does sound like you may need new headset, or at least bearings?
what frame is it on? i think most new frames are internal and run a 45/45 headset (campagno or whatever its called) and are about £20
how old is your current one as they should last at least a few years.....
-
FSA make some nice Hsets, campagnolo coas a bomb, but go on for ever, :smitten: i find these internal jobs great, and once set , ive never had to adjust them, i think most have roller bearings , nice and smooth, plus even load :daumenhoch: check out FSA mate,
-
yep have to agree you can't beat the FSA ones for cost and reliability :daumenhoch:
-
the integrated headset uses 45deg angular contact bearing races that sit inside the headtube,
the internal headset is similar but still uses an actual "cup" that presses into the headtube,
most modern bmx frames use the integrated (campagnolo) system :daumenhoch:
hope that helps!
-
Not all integrated use 45deg, Eastern and Stolen use 36deg (maybe others)

when did bmx's become so complecated :-\
-
The late 90's , started with 1 1/8" threadless forks and snowballed from there
-
sadly mtb's didnt help, i like basic machines, none of this number mumbo jumbo ;)
-
:) Did Volume also go with a "different" internal headset as some point as well???
-
The frame is a Federal T-Nez, only had for a year. But I think this is my fault, tried to raise the bars by adding a spacer and I think I over tightened it :-[
Sounds like it's intergrated as there is no seperate cups, Think I will get onto Mr.Bar Ends (Trev) the Fly ones look nice.
Thanks for the help and advice

the fly ones are nice as you can choose what colour you want instead of just having black, although i think the fly ones are sold seperate, so the bearings and caps are sold as seperate items.....thus making the headset about £30/£40?
Trev also does the FSA Impact ones as i got one off him for the Proper :daumenhoch:
