brake help from me?? hahahaha... i am the original brakeless rider who rides with two brakes. i've never got any brakes to work properly.
however, if you need a good front brake then a Suelo is a good choice.

are you 100% definite that the push lever is u-brake specific?
if its a v-type lever it'll be pulling too much cable and wont give the leverage needed to lock up the rear wheel,
its the only thing i can offer as the rest should work spot on,
what pads are they? many mtb pad makers swear that their pads are sticky but in reality are just regular pads,
heatsink are definitely sticky! kool-stop pads are good too, tried and tested,
not being funny but is the rim clean? i mean "squeeky" clean?
is the brake chain or seat stay mounted? is there enough pull angle on the caliper?
-
the lever is off a mongoose expert.i like the feel of the lever.
the rims clean and the brake mounts seat stay.
heatsink pads you say?who makes them/imports them?
-
also try taking the pads off and giving the faces a good rub with sand paper, they often get a glazing over them and this makes them slip.

i'm off to corby today so i'll pop into marshalls cycles 1st to let them do it  :daumenhoch:

You may like the feel of the lever but as DSD says if it's a v-brake lever it won't work with a u-brake as it pulls too much cable, that's a compatibility issue :D

Get them to check/verify the brake lever as above :daumenhoch:

its off a u braked mongoose

Cool, might just need some fettling of the cable and some better pads like Koolstops :daumenhoch:

you'll get a bike shop to do it??
SHAME ON YOU SIR!!!
-
been looked after/sponsered by them for years (road/mtb)
-
who imports heatsink pads??
-
Oil the cable, deglaze the pads or try new ones. Also, you want the minimum amount of spring tension on the caliper you can get away with. Just enough to twang it off the rim, and no more. When you have the pads off to deglaze them, spend a little time postioning them nicely when they go back on :)
-
anyone used simple green on their rims??
-
if it were me i'd try another lever, just to see if the problem is there,
you shouldnt really need something as severe as simple green for the brake to lock,

be warned though, theres no modulation with these puppies! they come on like a stick-in-the-wheel! :daumenhoch:
