There are only 2 or 3 uk bmx mags, and they are prettay much all street/park oriented, so if racing is your interest don't bother. Ride & Digbmx are the two that spring to mind.

As to who is No. 1 - Pass

:) Ride BMX magazine seems to be the most successful UK magazine & is readily available at most decent newsagents,WH Smith etc.The editor seems to be biased against racing for some daft reason ,so no(or very little on racing)& seems very cliquey.

Dig magazine is probably at no 2,and in my opinion seems to written by idiots!

UK Mags:  Ride and Dig
US Mags:  BMX World and Ride USA
Others:  Cream, Freedom

As for who the UK's No.1 Rider is, if you mean for racing, then it's Kelvin Batey or Liam Phillips (they're the ones most likely to rep at the Olympics if Team GB qualifies).

For freestyle, I have no idea who the No.1 is (or how it would be decided).

given the choice id buy dig , but any mag will be trying to sell you stuff , what are you looking at buying ?

"(or how it would be decided)."

it would be like that episode of star trek where kirk has to fight spock with those stick things , except they will be battling with frames . different rounds will be held in skateparks and town centres surrounded by red stripe drinking chavs and underage teens

Not seen it in the usual places I buy it from for a while now.  Some people have said it has gone under, which is a shame if true, as it was the longest running BMX mag.

My daughter bought me a subscription to BMX Plus, so I get it every month!

Only mag around that features mostly racing, shame the UK race scene aint covered any more.

Ride = Shite no racing featured but that's mainly because of the devil pedals and disco slippers  ::)

No1 UK Rider - Shanaze Reade without a doubt, probably the only rider who will defo make the Olympics the way we're going  :'(
