like us all we collect for fun we search high and low for a good build or item...... that is the beauty..seems now mongoose are making 500 repop of their bikes from the early 80's WHY well i think we all know that.. i love mongoose my fave bike bitd was the proclass .....so im gonna jump off the fence on this
one and say its really not looking good for anyone esp jono or coxy t oname but a few now looking at there jmc builds thinking i hope the good god jimbo melton does not go down the same rd
ive seen the repo goose and it looks more or less exact.
i remember reading a few topics about biaggio getting in a finer word slated to death for being tarnished with the word repro so whats the diff.........guys and girls just think about it ..
will speak about his again im sure...
NOT A HAPPY BUNNY

I must say, i did not see much good in it at first, the only thing i did agree with is that it may bring more people back into the community, but in saying that, with a production of 500, how many are we likely to see?
Besides, its more fun to build your own.
-
orb
500 yep but it will be like a dfs sale this 3 piece sweet was 26 milliond quid
but buy now your interest free for 500 quids buy now pay 2017 meaning they will all do ia LOT MORE
thats what scares me a bit
for orb and the crew and esp the commnity these guys are making old school a reinventory global shout BUT you will be riding their shoulders deservedly so may i add... it will punch old school promo to astro heights
but its a bit crap to me the old collector
cheer orb oh and the chat room is cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its not exactlly the same Stu, you will be able to tell the difference between the old and the new. IMHO it won`t make alot of difference to us, Skyway been doing some new runs of colour wheels but the old alloy hubs are still most sought after, and if they did a run of T/A f/f I would still prefer an original from bitd, and pay more for it. ;)
-
i hope they build them stronger than they used to,mine lasted 4 months before it cracked, but one good thing came out of it,i got a pro class as a replacement...holes drilled & all!!!
-
They'll flop......kidz arn't interested and us grown ups want the originals.
Just like the new choppers, cause a stir for first couple of months..then disappear.
-
I think you're making a big deal out of nothing. Redline did the square back Haro did the Sport, with 500 being made we'll probably be seeing a couple of them at the track but i doubt it'll make any impact on the old skool market.

in the world of oldschool skateboarding most companies now make re-issue decks.
The prices of the oldschool stuff doesnt drop the re-issues become collectable, it makes it more accessible to people who would not normally be able to afford it , its nice to skate the shite out of a re-issue whilst keeping your nos original on the wall.
BMX re-issues dont interest me but I cant see why it would cause concern

I much prefer when a manufacturer builds a bike that pays homage just like the Haro Master Anniversary or the GHP. Not sure if Mongoose have studied the market place as it seems that the only people possibly interested in the 500 bikes are on this site, but at least they've recognised we exhist.
As for repro - no problem, if someone is repro-ing Gold Tech 3's I'd be in there quicker than Jono at a JMC auction!!
Anyway, I did ask the good guys at Skyway if they would be building a 'homage' bike but they said nope! shame.
-
mmm gold tech III's
-
I think these bikes could be good for old school racing buy, ride, bend, throw away personnaly I'm not tempted by one I would rather use an original but in 10 years time when the originals are even more rare who knows.
If they had brought out a new school bike inspired by the old school one now that would be something I would have looked at.
-
you dont have to worry about jim melton and jmc repops, jim has already been asked to do this and he turned it down, thats how the azusa project started. jim wanted to leave jmc as it was remembered and not have any actual repops
the tribute/retro geese will create no damage at all to prices/desirability, like others have said earlier, it didnt effect haro or redline.
i think the redline kit is prob the only retro thing actually would like now, not to build, just the kit in the box to look

instead of fannying around with a "new retro" mongoose, they should do repro's of every mongoose decal set.
and sell em on the cheap!
-
Let me put it this way - I would buy one, but I wouldnt take it to Bournemouth!
-
This is bollocks,if there going to build them, build a whole shit load of them. :2gunsfiring_v1:
-
"if" ?
-
Check the date of the thread Piper :2funny:
-
I've just bought a retrospectagraoh and it says they won't be that sought after and won't affect collecting old mongooses at all. :LolLolLolLol:
-
i dont think mongoose will make them
-
I think they will, but recon there won't be much interest.
But - we're bound to see idiots trying to sell them on the bay for a grand!
LMAO
-
my mate's dad's sister-in-law's friend's uncle knows the guy who runs mongoose's milkman's brother
he says they are gonna start making motomags again
-
I thought they already had made them...http://www.alansbmx.com/product_info.php?cPath=116_89&products_id=2586
I don't really see what the issue is, Ford made the GT40 again and there wasn't any uproar from owners of the original GT40's screaming blue murder about how Ford had devalued their "investment". I think some people take some things just a little too seriously when it comes to BMX bikes :LolLolLolLol:

you will never beat the original geese

OOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhh!!! thats a beauty man, :daumenhoch:Ive never really had a love for the goose even though my very first bike was a minigoose, I always prefered my nishiki, but that bike makes me want one, as for the repro gooses I dont think they will make any difference to the market and in all honesty anyone with an ounce of knowledge can tell the difference but if it means people who ordinarily couldnt afford an a nice old school bmx could actually buy one, im all for that. :coolsmiley:
