Damn i'm happy today, many moons ago, sometime around 1991, when i was very very skint i sold my 87 GT Pro Performer to my mate for £40, he intended to fix it up but never ever got around to it and it's been lying in his parents shed for 17 years, i always regretted selling it and after seeing all the cool bike restorations on here i asked him if i could buy it back, as he will never find time to restore it he agreed to sell it back to me for the same price as i sold it....so today i got my baby back, it's gonna take a whole lot of work and money to get it back looking like new and i'm not even sure where to start, but it's gonna be my labour of love over the next 6 months or so, i'm just soooo delighted to have it back :)

Do you ( or your parents ? ) have any original photos of it from bitd ? .
-
Not many of us have our original bikes so do it justice as am sure you will :4_17_5:
GT's are the way forward ;)

Funny you should ask that, i was at my mums yesterday and asked her if she had anymore old bmx photos, the only ones i have are of my Firebird Freestyler and Haro Sport, she has no idea if she has any but plans to sort through all her photos sometime this year, at the moment they are all boxed up after my folks moved house.
Unfortunately i was never big on taking photos bitd and as far as i can remember there was only one set of photos that had the GT in them and i'm pretty sure they got ruined by damp as they lay in my parents garage for a couple of years, i remember finding them all stuck together but can't remember if i managed to save any :(

I'll certainly try, it should actually end up being a much better bike then it was bitd, it wasn't a factory spec bike and some of the parts i put on it were just the best i could afford at the time or came from my 85 Haro Sport that i had snapped, the wheels were just a basic cheap pair of arayas, i'm pretty sure i still have the original GT stem in the loft somewhere.

good story, i dont normally like gt's but that model always ctches my eye, theres a corking pink one in the gallery that ive always thought was shit hot.
