Title: the good days ummm some were not
Post by: adam01 on May 28, 2008, 11:35 PM
many of you say how it was great days bitd of bmx , i wish to tell you that some were certainly not. i had wonderful days yes don't get me wrong. but in the early days of bmx me and my mates riding to waltham stow on hot sunny days and getting stopped by complete assholes who decided to start trouble such as put a iron bar a cross my head and chest wasn't great at all , and my parents were not so well off back then really couldn't afford to buy us the best and that i was picked on by the chingford mob saying nasty things such as i like your trainers etc etc very upsetting for a young kid who love riding his bike. but it didn't stop me from riding it nearly did but i didn't. my best days were in 1985/6/7 when i got a good job and bought good quality items IE: haro gt etc and people change their opining about me but i wouldn't give them a second glance.

In this day and age think how hard it is to roll around with some fly tuffs, me and my mates often cruise around and get solidly abused, "nice dinosaur bike" "thoose wheels would brake if you went off a curb"  :uglystupid2: ect ect, but at the end of the day, the bikes are wicked nothing like any other bikes around!

I think every kid on a bmx got a bit of bad time at some point...

always seemed to be by the ppl who didn't or couldn't ride bmx...

i got a lot of stick jus cos i was so small on a big bike...

then it all turned to jealouscy when i started getting good and other ppl were taking notice!!

I still see it happening with kidz now... nothings changed!

we used to get the train to middlesborough and ride from there to southbank track (not sure, but about 5 miles?) through some rough as fook areas back then and gettin bricks lobbed at you n chores trying to nick yer bike on the way there and back, it was literally running the gauntlet every single time we went, i was 13 and it was scary as fook, i remember watching "escape from newyork" and comparing southbank to that :LolLolLolLol:

I remember getting sh*t of this one lad with a bunch of girls, me and a friend were learning hop to nose picks on these benchs in our town centre..
he was heckling us which then turned to threats after a little while, this was back then I had a real temper (I was known locally as a bit of scrapper)..
so the head went, down went the bike, off came the chain, round the knuckels it was wrapped and over I went to him, he proper sh*t it >:D,  all his girly friends just ripped it out of him ;D ;D..
