An Old school Race will be held as part of the Hartlepool National weekend. The race will be held on the Saturday evening after national practice has finished. Entry will be the normal North region fee of £7.00 and the race will be pay back with money for the 1st 3 riders. The more that enter the greater the prizes.
The track is old school friendly, so come on and make a weekend of it. Details re camping and accomodation etc will follow closer to the event.

This race is open to anybody who wants to race old school as long as they have the relevant bike. As for sandbaggers, those that are worried will have to try harder.

Had a spin around the track today, I have got to say berm 1 and 2 are unreal... very fast indeed.
It's amazing what difference an extra meter on top makes. :daumenhoch:
Well done to every one involved :)

Steve, before committing to the 6 hour drive up to Hartlepool from Surrey, can you confirm whether we'll be able to ride the track on Saturday after the official practice sessions (either before or after the OS racing)? According to BC rules, it's at the discretion of the club, but despite Bev and Ant Tuffs saying we could ride at Chessy on Saturday night, Bernie Mapp threatened to DQ us for Sunday if we didn't stop riding :wtf:
-
and what time is the o/s racing scheduled for sat please? :)
-
The schedule for Hartlepool National is as follows:
Friday 27th June 2008 Gate Practice 6-9pm
Saturday 28th Official National practice times as per single national which finishes at 6pm
6pm-7pm Old school practice
7pm Old School racing until finished, either the racing or the riders
Sunday National practice times and racing as per single national schedule
Outside of these times NEBMX Club have no intention of closing the track. I will speak to Roger at BC to clarify the situation.
Mike don't forget you won't want too much practice, with a lap record of about 50seconds and 20+ jumps to deal with.
If anyone wants extra practice then don't forget our regional on Sunday 15th June.Gate practice is also on Saturday 14th June 2-5pm.

I was originally gonna give Hartlepool a miss cos of the distance (it's over 5 hours drive from my house). However, after a re-think I'll probably do Hartlepool as I've never been there before and miss the Burnham double header instead (Hartlepool looks like more fun).
Don't know whether I have room in the car to bring my old school bike as well as my cruiser though as I'm bringing 3 other people and their bikes up.
I don't mind knackering myself out in practice Steve as it won't affect my usual last place finishes on race day. I only get to ride at race meetings (too busy working during the week), so I just want to be able to get as much track time as possible when I get the chance.
p.s. - one of my neighbours is from Hartlepool and described the estate next to the track as being similar to the estate in "Shameless". Is this true or was he just winding me up?
-
I have pulled out of the Novice Night and I am going to this shindig instead.
I expect some sort of curried dish to made available and copious amounts of Alcohol too!!!
Either sit down or take out. I'm easy either way!!
Has anyone got any good ideas for hotels etc, etc or is eveyone camping?

there is a large council estate about 1/2 a mile across the fields and parts are as rough as a badgers arse, i wouldnt leave tents with stuff in unguarded at night. but thats the same for any urban set up,

So howd it go Kenny?
-
Only Kenny S went down with Stuart. He didn't take his bike, he was only going down to sell the GT Power Series. He tells me there were 7 oldschool entries and Madd Dogg won :daumenhoch: See you next week, although I doubt if I'll be riding
-
Yeh, Russ won the big cash payout :daumenhoch: we had a pump race final, it was a right good laugh... then we all piled into the local for a few jars...
-
Nice to meet some of the old schoolers.
Fun racing, despite people falling off in front of me every lap ;)
Pity more people didn't turn up to race, so there were only 7 of us.
-
been offline all weekend, gotta say the racing was fantastic, real good feel about it, nice meetin the new guys n well done russ :daumenhoch:
