Ok gonna go with the twin pinch for my GT now as it seems I have loads missing on my proline cranks I bought :( :knuppel2:
So what's the best way of getting the cups into the bottom bracket without fooking them up or scratching them? Don't want to use a hammer as I think i'll chip them so advice needed please.
Ta,
Matt :daumenhoch:

i have a 30 or 32mm socket i use i will be at rom tomorow if ya wanna borrow it matt
it sits on the bearing so doesnt damage the alloy cups

Can't pop over tomorrow Rhys but thanks anyway, gotta work :(
How do you get the cups in? Is it via a vice or some other method?
Thanks,
Matt :)

i just tap em in with a hammer and me socket

What time are you over there mate tomorrow Rhys? May try and pop over but can't 100% guarantee. Will let you know later if I can get some of this work out of the way ;)

Hi matt,
I put grease around the bearing cup insert, then hold the frame level and square on its side on the floor then use a rubber mallet to tap the bearing cup in, just make sure the bearing cup is even as you knock it in. if you have not got a rubber mallet then a piece of wood will do the same thing, although it may be a bit awkward.
hope this helps

Depends on how well they fit, have had to use the vice at work with 2 plates of metal and some foam on 1 set of cups. And on my Robinson just a pair of quick clamps done the job, same with bearings into cups I have one that pushes in by hand and the other needs some help from the hammer. Might go to rOm tommorow(just got back,(the wifes camping)), if you dont make it and I see Rhys, I'll pick up his tool and get Caroline to drop it off as she only works round the corner to you Matt.

I do have a rubber mallet actually steve! If that will do it and not damage it that'll be superb, thanks mate for that :daumenhoch:
