Is it a decade?
Not too hot on geese, better folk on here than me ;)
I'll have the stem of ya though :LolLolLolLol:
Oh and some them thunderbolt cables ;)
-
Looks like an early Supergoose that's had a platform welded on - doesn't look like a factory built one :-\, get some close up pics of the welding on the platform and we should be able to tell :daumenhoch:
-
87 Mongoose decade
-
have you just ram raided an old bike shop? :2funny:

Thats exactly what i was thinking too , the decade looks nothing like that , the ones i have seen anyway :-\ .
I would defo say a home made supergoose freestyle
Looks like they did a good job too :)
:coolsmiley:
-
Can't help you on the Mongoose I'm affraid sorry.
But have you got any Orange Brakecables amongst that lot? I need a front and rear.
Cheers bodamus ;)
-
I would say a mk2 mongoose with bits welded on :daumenhoch: I might be interested in the frame if you are thinking of flogging it :)
-
Definetly not a decade, they didn't have a gusset, had different forks & bars to yours, plus loads of other differences.
It looks like others have said, an early goose that has had extra bits welded on? but didn't the supergoose have three holes in the rear brake bridge?
Or it could just be a mongoose copy, one of the reasons i say that is because of the chainring, didn't the early goose's come with a sugino or mongoose stamped snowflake chainring? obviously it could just have been changed at some point.
-
Lovely stuff there mate...
Deffo interested in the Green Dyno fork standers and the Haro Thunderbolt brake cables ...
Let me know.
Matt :daumenhoch:
-
its defo a supergoose about 82/83 you can tell from the dropouts. www.vintagemongoose.com
-
Fook me look at all that stuff  Fork standers yummy :coolsmiley:
-
looks nice i,d be interested in the bars if your breaking her up :daumenhoch:
-
Rear drop out different length's ? factory spec/mistake ? - bolt on the mx 1000 has a wing nut ? - serial no ? - welds look well done and lined up either side? (camera not in middle when taken as i could not get it in there) is it a hutch donut ? whats the crank ?
sorry for all the pics but i thought i might as well put all, as then you can have a good look at all around bike
so goose or not ? if goose which one/year - test factory one ? any ideas welcome !
cheers B ;)

It's an 83 Mongoose 2 (late one). The frame standers are an aftermarket add on.

hey this is an easy investigation
back in the days there were bike parks for parents to take there young children IE: like a family day out but in the local council parks which kids had to line up and wait for there turn to get a free bike for halfhour to ride a round . The park was laid out with traffic lights and you had to stop when lights were such colour this was to help for children to understand the safety of the roads which can be very dangerous. so yes its a free rental bike made up specially for these parks. hope this helps
Adam
PS: there were probably 50 of these bikes made up for each assigned location
-
pretty unique find there
:daumenhoch:

Pic overload :idiot2:

think that would make a great project :daumenhoch:

Pic overload :idiot2:
I dont get it ???. The more pics the better in my eyes. Help to identify it better :daumenhoch:

Defo an 83 goose.
Platform added by a very good welder, by the looks of the uniform tig welds.
By comparing them to the welds of the headtube gusset you can see the difference.
Build it up for a unique o/s rider, and enter bike of the year ;)
p.s. quality Hutch donut seatclamp by the way (bit corroded though)

Some of those welds don't look too shabby for an aftermarket job though....
Wouldn't it be great if it was an undiscovered prototype? But I think the frame is too early for that kind of thing. Californians looked different around the time the trickstar came out.
-
does the serial number come up as anything ?

..I dont know, .. maybe just another score (or two) of pics and i might know what it is
-
Why would some kids rental bike company bother welding a frame stand on? ???
-
It seem strange to me as well as why would they let they kid do a frame stand coming up to traffic lights ??? i thought they were teaching the kids of danger out on the street and not teaching them how to pedal backwards across a road :D sorry Adam i can see the idea but there is a thing of why not just use a normal bmx and not go to the trouble of welding up extra unwanted bits for teaching them road safety ??? the welds are very good (just look at the extra tube on the bottom tube to seat tube) this would have been very expensive for a company to do at 50 bike per location and not used in teaching safety ! if you can find some info on this then i have to dismiss this - sorry ;)
-
That's no rental bike... Hutch clamp, real DX pedals, GT Pro bars, Proneck stem, Dia Compe MX1000 brakes and then a quality bit of welding to top it off.
...some one wanted a Hutch Shitstar, but didn't have the conkers to buy one...
"daddy, will you ask Uncle Reamus to weld a platform on my bicycle please"
"yes, little Trevor, I'll ask him today"
Case closed ;)

cheers bob ;)
forgot to say, as the bike is it weighs only 8.9 kg - frame/bars/stem/clamp/crank/chain ring/levers/post/seat - would have thought it would have weighed more than that with the extra welding but feel nice and light ;)
-
we need more pics....
wtf
