Help,
I need to buy my youngest a 16" New School,
what should I consider...., :-\
..I like the look of the Lil Rippers but what are they like versus the established new school offerings?? It needs to be relatively light, etc...
thanks for any guidance :daumenhoch:

Must admit have changed a few bits, got rid of the heavy seatpost and guts, fitted a Odsy Intac, swapped the sprocket for a smaller one 30T Colony and swapped the freewheel to a 13t.
The weight they list on ALANS is wrong, his did not have the front brake or scaffold poles(pegs) fitted and still weighed more than the stated amount. He gets on fine with it as you can see, he will be 7 at the end of this month, lanky git about 4foot 2inches tall.
If you can get to rOm one weekend you could let yours try it out.

cheers Jonny :) ! Are they in London mate ?
What's your Lil Ripper like ? I mean weight wise ?
I bought my son a small bike with 14" Wheels to learn to ride on, but it's heavier than my Floval Cruiser ! A lot of em seem over-engineered, and thus they weigh a ton...
-
my lbs has a 16" mongoose in
-
halfpipe are in london..and the bike seems quite heavy, but is suspect thats componentry, couple of minor mods and it's right...
i've put full size bars on mine, lifted the post and put a camo padset on it...
dont really need it, but they are quite cool!

Avoid Mongoose Pit Crew at all costs. My youngest boy has one, weighs more than the wife`s cruiser (with baby seat fitted)

that's the common problem, most of em are too heavy ! Don't know why they have to over engineer em or give em mountain bike style fat tubing !!

i think, given the purpose, they are heavy for a reason....robust ???
i bought the ripper, just cos its a ripper and has an old school look to it, that little hoffman looks very cool also though....
i gave 260 quid for mine which is well expensive looking back....
wanna buy it ?

I wouldn't mind one of these, think Berringer rides one in the opening credits of Odyssey's Electronical DVD.

:)Seems all 16" bikes are plenty heavy! Some with 14mm axles WTF? The S&M is probablyno exception....

Pit bikes are heavy cos the manufacturers know that fat dads won't be able to resist having a go :LolLolLolLol:
My little un has a Redline Pit Boss which is really light, but it's a race style pit bike, not freestyle. We also have a little Curtis with 12" wheels which my 3 year old rides and that weighs a bloody ton. Feels heavier than my cruiser.
-
Thats becuse your cruiser is made of Titanium Mike :LolLolLolLol:
p.s like your new prototypes, when I saw you had replied, I thought you was going to say you had had one made :daumenhoch:

Ok this is my first post in this section so Please be Gentle with me.
We got Nicholas a Lil Ripper for his birthday ( Mid August )but im a big softee and we let him have it early. ( Very early)
Weight wise it is around 20lbs wich i didnt think was particulary heavy considering the rivals.
It Looks THe MUTTS tho.
