Well, even some of the earliest S&M forks had double drops.  These have popped before.  The short weld on the inside of the dropout is consistent with some Challenger forks I've seen.  Not worth the money to me.  I'll bet that's still a pretty good deal for you guys across the pond.

The way I think it happened was like this:

Most (all?) early S&M forks had double dropouts. The pre-pitch forks (3 or 4 different styles) all had a steer tube like these ones, and then they thickened up the lower part, and the legs, on the pitchforks. Then, when the challenger frame came out they kept the old fork design and used them on the challenger cos they were lighter than pitchforks. The only thing they changed was they used single thick drop outs like on the challenger frame, and they didnt put a brake hole in them. Id say those forks are 1993/4 challenger/race forks.

They look OK but the drop outs are a little mashed. I dont think they are worth that much but Ive got pitchforks on my challenger so Im tempted to make a lower offer.

I dont really collect anything later than 1" and Im guessing that will be a 1 1/8 stem.
Having said that, I have got 2 or 3 challenger stems, but that is just parts Ive used on my bikes in the past.

Oh .... you didnt say it was a polished one!  :2funny:

That has got to be one of the maddest things I have seen. Just when you think S&M stuff is still nice and cheep. And its not even early 1" stuff! I think I have got 2 black stems like that, and my mate has just used a third one on his challenger that he has finally built up. Infact, I think his frame, forks and stem werent much more than that, about a year ago.
