My BMX programme has fallen behind schedule for 08, so I thought I would take this down time to get a few more prototypes made up, test them for the rest of this season and have them out in time for next season.
So, here's a first glimpse of the dialled bikes Reynolds 853 cruiser frames. Photos don't really do the colours justice (and the production frames won't necessarily be this colour either - I just like to try out new colours on prototype frames). Weight came in at bang on 4.5lbs which I thought was pretty good for a Pro XL size cruiser (21.5" top tube).

Had to re-jig my schedule for the next few months, so think I am missing Hayes and MK regionals, but doing Hartlepool national instead of Burnham double header. Will come to cheer you guys on in the finals at Hayes, hopefully. Are you and Bill going to Hartlepool, Lee?
-

That's my 2010 product range ;)
-
I don`t think I`ll be going to Hartlepool Mike, it`s just a bit too far for me to drive, then ride, then drive home again :(

Chad is getting one of the frames (probably the blue one) for some Bournemouth thrash testing.
Hoping to retail these frames in the £250 to £290 price range (usual repeat customer discounts will apply ;) ). Steel prices are rising quite sharply at the moment (my Prince Albert frames cost over US$30 more to make than they did 10 months ago when I ordered the last batch, so that's over US$3000 on a batch of 100), and Reynolds 853 double butted is one of the best/most expensive steel tubes to make a BMX frame from (until they start making 953 in BMX/MTB diameters and butt thicknesses).
Glad people are liking it though. I can't wait to get the testing done then put these into production so people can enjoy riding them.

Yeah, it's a long way Bill. My main reason for going is to take Scott up seeing as he's chasing the title. Also, never ridden their track before, so will go there instead of going to Burnham again. Won't be the same without you and Lee there though.
-
:) Look awesome! Will there be any 20" protos to look at soon?

20" protos were made last year and raced all last season by Shaun Andrews and Dan Whyte. Ready to roll when I get the funds together.

I had a dream about dialledbikes last night, it was a mag advert taken in a warehouse, with the bmx range lined up on the bottom of a mini ramp and a punchbag in the corner :idiot2:

Very surreal.

Mike
was Brad Spick's bike a one off?
-
Yes mate. The bike that Brad is on is an Expert XL prototype originally made for Tre Whyte. I will, however, be adding Expert and Expert XL frames to the next lot of BMX frames I put into production so, Expert, Expert XL, Pro, Pro XL, Pro XXL and Cruiser should have all bases covered. Then it'll be time to do a street/park frame.
-
mike, will my chris king go in it?
-
Mike is it 853 maintubes and chromoly rear end? Looks sweet, do you do a chromo fork to go in them?
As for carbon in your 2010 line, make sure you up your public liability insurance!!!!!
BTW, I aint been on here much as my thumb is still fecked from cheddar and the shop is mental busy. Nearly got the zeronine finished though!
-
Mike, dont forget to work on some small frames :daumenhoch:
-
Nice frames Mike ;) .
Clive , pm me the 09 progress pic ;) .

No need for a PM, here she is, cranks just back from the chromers, just need freewheel, chain and pedals and i'm done! Stickers need a tweak to be perfect but i'm being picky there. I'm not building it exactly to spec as per my original as I only used CW bars for a short time and used Star Bars mostly.

Sorry to hear about your thumb Clive. Hope to see you racing again once everything is healed up. Despite the crashes, you looked good out there (jumping stuff straight away which I still can't jump after 3 years back).
Yep, the frames are 853 main tubes and 4130 rear. I don't know whether to make a fork for them as I did with the 20" frames but most people want to run different forks like Answer carbons, S&M Race and Odyssey, so not decided on the forks yet.
p.s. the Zeronine is looking sweet!
-
cheers Mikey on the 09, getting there but struggling with pedals.
Cheers on the thumb too, like Arnie said, I'll be back......
-
That's such a cool looking bike, does it differ visually or geometry wise from the current MX20 or is it just a change in material?
-
Same geometry (and overall shape) James, but because it's 853 instead of 4130 it uses smaller OD/thinner walled tubes, no gussets, smaller dropouts etc. so looks a bit cleaner/refined and more racy than the original MX20.
-
Ok cheers for that. I'm looking forward to it coming out then as I am tempted to get a 20" now and fancy a steel bike.
-
Team rider James Chadwick got his proto cruiser built up in time for Hayes this weekend:
