Just bought this cheap, anyone know anything about them? Other than a ding in the back wheel and a 1 piece crank, it looks half decent in the pic. I have had a couple of sets of forks by them and the quality has been good. Looks like a fair amount of detail in the frame and maybe the cranks aren't the originals. Anyway they will be swapped for a set of 3 piecers when I get it.

Popular in the UK mid to late 90s. Made famous by Dylan Clayton who was on the Sunn Chipie race team.
Pretty decent bikes (I guess they were the French equivalent of GT, when GT were good bikes). Sunn were huge in France in the 90s thanks to Christophe Leveque, Carmine Falco, Nico Voillouez (sorry, I can't spell his name!) and Ann-Caro Chausson.
The guy who owned the company/designed Sunn bikes, Max Commencal, now owns Commencal bikes.
I can't remember what the different models were though. That looks like a good find though.

Looks a decent frame as you say. DC Doctor Smooth and Christophe Leveque were riding those around the time that was out. Remember those forks, DC had an orange set on a blue/orange frame. Should come up nice. :daumenhoch:

1ST DIB DOBS on the forks if you split/sell! Sunn I think were a French co,been around for years making roadies etc.I had a Sunn racebike in 98/99 & it was killer, also had a Sunn dirtbike, can`t remember the model.Didn`t DC or someone ride for Sunn late `90s? There`s a few pics in various BCF brochures....

Also had a parts line -Rudd?

That's "Vouilloz", Mike ;)
Good stuff this one, San
Check this for older info on the company (in french !) http://www.23mag.com/com/sunn/sunn.htm
Started in 84 in south of France, getting really big in the 90's with the Chipie team, then later with some MTB's, still producing bikes, mostly road and MTB nowadays, after many many changes and hard times since the 90's..

I had a couple of Sunn bikes before, one was cro-mo like yours and one was alloy with a funky twin top tube set up.

So sounds like 31 quid was a good price then ;D

.. would say yes !

Cheers Mark, did have a quick look there but couldn't pin it down. On 2nd looks, could be based on the 1996 Chris Leveque model looking at the frame decal, but with the forks off a 1997 Lecoupe
