Title: Proclass or Tuffs?
Post by: dannywhiteley on June 18, 2008, 10:28 PM
Just got a pair of proclass rims with blue dots and thinking of fitting them to my T/A to free up my alloy hubbed black tuffs for my Rebel Freestyler.  Only prob is the proclass have a coaster fitted and without checking dont think T/A'a have a coaster bracket.

I'd put the proclass on the Rebel, but as they are blue they wont go with my red colourscheme im planning for it.  They will go with my chrome and blue T/A though.  The black Tuffs will go with anything so happy days.

Just rambling now, but would like pics of T/A's with proclass if poss, and your thoughts on T/A's with tuffs vs spokes.

Change the colour of the pro class rim inserts to a different colour.

You can attach the coaster brake arm to the frame using a seat post clamp.

My opinion (for what it is worth) is that T/A's should always have Skyway wheels.  I don't like them with spokes... but hey what the hell do I know?

Where do you get proclass inserts in different colours?  Red would be perfect so I could use them on the Rebel.

If you want actual Pro-Class inserts then trawl ebay and you can usually find some.

Alternatively, go to your local hobby or craft shop and look at the ribbon they do, it comes in loads of different colours and styles and costs about 80p per metre.  This is what I do with Pro-Class rims and they always look smart.

I would say spokes on the TA...& the tuffs on the Rebel...

Generally, I think spokes for racing & tuffs for freestyle .... but rules can be broken ;)

normally the rule of spokes on a racer, Tuff's on freestyler is correct - but I think the TA breaks (re-writes?) those rules...keep the Tuff's on the TA!!

just my two-penneth's worth...

Aye, decided to keep the Tuffs on the T/A.  They are my best wheels on my best bike.  So there they stay.

Ive swapped the proclass tape for some red.  Wasnt the original p/c tape, so just replaced the ribbon with red.  Looks  :coolsmiley:  And the Rebel has a coaster bracket so happy days are here again.

Goes with my red theme... :) :bondage:

Tuffs on both!

But definately on the TA - they just don't look right without them.

What about the seat clamp trick or the wrap around metal strip to secure the coaster ?

Aparently they arent pro class, just the standard class chrome rims, so they arent going on the T/A.  Will be looking for some red tuffs for the Rebel I think, but they will do to start with.
