Title: Frame ID? POS with VDc bars and some other nice bits?
Post by: JT71 on June 29, 2008, 12:25 PM
right I picked this up this morning, it's been hand painted black and looks like a "toy" bmx rather than a quality one as this is almost always the case when the bike has a chain guard fitting.

 :LolLolLolLol:

so the Kuwhara sitckers fitted after it was brush painted are not accurate.

anyone know what the POS frame is? or the bars, rusty chromo strane things, like VDC but not.

it also has a pair of not too shabby but used DC Tech iii's in black, a dc front brake in red with well worn red tuff pads, a cheapo wheel, never used on it as there's no red marks from the blocks, a gold redline stem and maxycross 3 piece with sugino chain ring.

any ID on frame and bars much appreciated, seems strange to see good parts on a POS frame. (I'm awaiting the Burner or Reflex jokes now)

Look like monkey bars (not just the obvious shape, but the welds and bar sizes).

Those holes are strange though...

the bars have holes drilled top and bottom of the side tubes.

the side tubes are fatter than the cross tubes.

on the back left upright under the yellow tape was a chrome/black "monkey bars" sticker.

the stem has very slightly crimped the bars.

the chrome is shot.

might get em shot blasted and powdered, they are even rusty inside though.

I agree with J.T. Racing that looks like a Thruster by the shape of the dropouts so it aint no POS. Some decent parts on there too all restorable by the look of it.

If it is a Thruster that's a pretty rare bike to find in this country.

Nice score mate :daumenhoch:

not a vanishing point, that's all you'll find on the american sites, and tri power's. mcs/puch/thruster have them drops, gusset looks thruster. Where is the serial? mcs will be on the headtube.

Ive also been searching without success for a positive id, but IMO the rear drop out and even the gusset dont look like a POS frame to me.  Looks like an early US frame.

If it has a kick stand bracket and the hole for the mud guard i'd say pos.

mr sawall's cruiser is very very similar to my frame.

if your chain and seat stays extended to the end of the drop outs they would be a match.

the stand mount is pretty much identical.

I would say it's a Yes then, but can't find any pics like it. oh well.

time to get the bits off it I guess and into the "for sale" section.

I'll keep the frame and forks for  a future build.

right joe i had a look at the article and they had Phil's 'Yes' Cruiser in there and they had a bike Called A 'Yes Aero' and its got they same gusset as yours but the dropouts are different. but the ad dates back to about '84 so i reckon the frame you got is a 'Yes' one but from about '85/'86  :daumenhoch:
