they look well squashed or is it the pic they should only ever be stripped at the platers with reversing the plating procedure
with a charge they might be able to get done if not to pitted
-
No Dan they are well squashed :LolLolLolLol:
If i could get them painted up white or something i'd be happy
But must admit it does look like they will end up in the bin :'(
-
na dont bin em they have a fighting chance trust me .
-
dont bin them gary any things possible if they are going to be painted they stand a good chance of being saved, :daumenhoch:
-
yep paint them once there on they will be fine :daumenhoch:
-
Gary send them to me & I will take them to the main man Superbikedan, Im going to see him next week, he will make them look like new :)
Or just send them straight to Dan ???
-
Got to a welder and get him/her (well you never know LOL) to re-shape and fill the crush marks with weld/brazing then get them plated or painted :daumenhoch:

Chrome can be stripped using a caustic soda/water mix, and a 12v car battery.
The item to be stripped should be connected to the + lead, the - end in the solution.
Its best to agitate the solution whilst stripping.
The solution should go a urine !? colour.
Caustic soda is available from hardware shops.
Better results are acheived working on small areas at a time.
Just dont throw the waste down the drain, water authorities arent keen on chromium in water systems.

What a great tip - might put this to some use in the next few months - good call that man :daumenhoch:

get them painted nicely and then use them on a rider not a show bike, thats what i'd do :daumenhoch:

It certainly works, its not a speedy process, but neither is chrome plating.
I've had to do this on aircraft parts, which are a wee bit pricey
Give it a go and post your results.
:daumenhoch:

Gary , get another crossbar welded in & sell em to JT ;) :LolLolLolLol: .
