Ive decided that a FF lid is too restrictive for me on mini ramps. I will continue to wear it on vert though. :daumenhoch:
So, what peepot do we recommend here then peeps? TSG, Bell or Pro-Tec?
The "R" ;)

The best thing to do is to try before you buy. Make sure you get the size right cos most makes differ from size to size.
I have had the same copy protec for years but I just got a new TSG. I wanted to get a new lid anyway but DSD Joe sold me his brand new S&M logo one (they did them for a while but they are very hard to get now). It great, but if anything its a bit small even tho its an XL. Still, if it was any bigger, DSD might have kept it!
-
i used to have a protec but im using a bell at the momment, the bell seems to be better constructed ie thicker foam padding. thicker styrafoam and has taken a few hard knocks and still is ok, only downside is its wider than a protec and dosent look as good imo
-
i use a BELL in blood red, i like it although it does make me sweat a bit! and only £17 posted from chainreactioncycles :daumenhoch:
like the look of the TSG ones though

Thats another reason i want one mate. You think its bad in a peepot, try a fullface in the middle of summer. :-[
King Kong do em now aswell? Decisions, decisions eh!
I will wait and see what the general consensus is before i decide, but want it for saturday really.
:daumenhoch:

order one now at Chainreaction and it'll be on your doorstep Friday mate :daumenhoch:
-
Pro-Tec all the way :daumenhoch:
-
Scabs :daumenhoch:

Scabs :daumenhoch:
Scabs?
Sorry Bill can you elaborate please, never heard of em?
Sean :daumenhoch:
-
me and bailee use the scabs ones
altho mines knackerd due to ian at rom hiring it out when i left it behind the cheeky git
-
That would be Smiths Scabs, as in the bloody great big skate kneepads....
To be honest bud, they're all much of a muchness really, the major difference in design being that the UK market ones have to comform to a european standard and consequently, they have the hard inner foam padding, with a 'comfort' padding installed on top.
The US models have soft squidgy foam throughout I'm told.
As you know, I'm not the best person to advise you on these things, but I'd go for comfort first and that would mean a US model...
-
Thats a relief, i was expecting a bollockin of ya big fella! ;D I obviously will still go FF on vert and concrete ;)
I'm hearin ya rap about the US pots mate, but does that mean i have literally got to get one from the good ol U S of A.....shippin and all that malarky?
(in my best geordie accent) "A canni b arsed like"

p.s ive hit my 1st brick wall at Charlton :-[

I wonder why theres nothing in between a full face and a pisspot, like pisspot with an american football type chin bar!
-
old skool protec without a doubt bro if the ears are covered it softens the blow and spreads the shock new skool lids knock you out quicker than Ptell learns tricks trust me , i knocked myself silly 2 weeks ago came in temple first was abit dazed but ok , a new skool lid would have well put me out..
-
i was finding the full face a bit too much too sometimes.... got a TSG evo about a month ago, euro spec one and very comfy.
if poss try one on before you buy :)
-

Because they can't distribute the forces correctly :)

Pat, what do you mean by "oldskool" is that a US version? And where did you get yours?
Cheers, Sean. :daumenhoch:

one of my parachuting ones from the early nineties , but i spoke to my mate the other week that runs a paragliding skool and he has half a dozen they dont use now and said i can have them so you can have one bro when i pick them up , prob need new padding and they prob be luminous green, pink ,mauve or the like as that was the colours late 80s early 90s , but they do work bro..
-
Cheers dude, no worries about the colour i could vinyl wrap it at work............or is that not a good idea?
Dont know if the adhesive will fuk with the integrity?
:daumenhoch:
-
I think you're ok with protecs, they're plastic.
-

You comin to the "welcome back the ringer" bash at Charlton saturday mate?
-
Yeah, I'll be there :)

;D Nah, just a mental one mate........ive forgotten how to do the volcano :wtf:
-
I use a pro-tec B1 snowboard specific lid.
the ear pads pop out so ideal for both snow and bike.
I wouldn't go by measuring your head though, my head is enormous and the medium protec fits.
-
you cant go wrong with pro-tec reaaly good lid but i tried on a king kong one the other day and it felt really nice
-
;D Nah, just a mental one mate........ive forgotten how to do the volcano :wtf:
Send it to flat bottom, only way at first

Buy a new one - nowt worse than second hand piss! :LolLolLolLol:
-
Opted for a TSG evo from Grips, tried and tested today at Charlton and it gets a :daumenhoch: from me.
Sean.
-
Hope you didn't really test it ;)
-
;D Point taken yeh!
What i should have said was: tried out for size, and it defo feels better than the FF. More awareness can only be a good thing.
See ya soon Nick. :daumenhoch:

Sorry but just don't like the whole PISS-POT thing it's fine for sk8ers but the name says it all imo "PISS"!!!!!!!!!!!

You sound like twobob, but then he doesn't wear a lid on mini ramps, but a full face on vert.
Twice in the last couple of months the bike has hit me on the head, after I bailed, glad I had my pisspot on thanks.
-
When I slammed hard at Corby a few months ago, I was only wearing as p*sspot. But it saved me big time.
I think though if you do wear a full face, although it would protect you more, i also think it would cause more accidents due to your view being restricted.
-
trev go and sober up bro what are you on about , read what you wrote !

trev go and sober up bro what are you on about , read what you wrote !
i've read it and it seems fine to me. :idiot2:
-
slammed hard ? what did you do trip over leaving your car !
If you don't know about my slam, don't comment!!
if you wear a full face it does not get in way of anything your eyes are clear you can see all, only thing is it may take getting used to for reasons of coolness. and thats it ...
This was something Gerry Galley told me a few weeks ago. He seems to know a thing or two about riding ramps don't you think?
when you ride someday and reliase trev maybe you should post then in the mean time BEHAVE ..
So you saying unless anyone rides they should not post on RAD?? That would stop more than half the members on here.
As for me not riding... What's that all about?? How often are you riding these days??

PM you
