Recently bought some Acorns.. always thought they looked cool when I was a kid !
Only problem I remember was the freewheel rippin the mag to pieces and wreckin the wheel !! Also, did they make two versions cus I got some coming that have metal hubs on the photo.. the others haven`t, yet they have ACORN stamped on them!!
-
3 types.
All shite.
-
No wander I managed to get em ! Orb, so any cheap frames to put em on?
-
had white alloy hubbed acorns for about 2 months bitd
bag o sh*te
tuffs always were and always will be the only solution
-
acorn freestyle wheels were ok
but same as any mag wheel
for under 10 stone riders
simplex mags are stiffer. use them.
-
they had a good advert on the back of bmx weekly with a wheel on the gate.
but they always looked weak and cheap.
-
Are ACORN mags any good? No!!! TUFF II s are the ones.
-
what about aero zetec mags ??
-
zytecs are a good wheel.
-
I agree Zytecs are good wheels the hubs always look sweet. But they are not as good as tuffs. I've seen many more Zytecs crack under the abuse of 8 stone kids than tuffs.
-
Wish I'D PUT THIS POST UP BEFORE i DECIDED TO BUY EM NOW !! Damn
-
Advert time.

Nice colours at least !! well the ads sound ok, however after studying marketing !!
-
2 pound 50 p&p, times have changed thats for sure.
-
i rode metal sealed hud acorns two years ago and i jumped them lke foook, no probs from them at all, the metal hubbed ones are equally as good as zytecs anyday, they just werent marketed as cooly. :)
-
and the mag wheel fans say the zytecs were as good as if not better than tuffs
thus making the acorns on a par with skyways.
-
too thinny.
-
too thinny.
hehe
the magnums are on a par with skyway graphites
-
Acorn mags the skinny ones arent very strong, the freestyle ones are much better but aren't as good as zytecs, skyway or OGK.Zytecs are brilliant wheels, underated BITD because skyway were the front runners. I had white ally hub skyways, the rear caved in after quite a lot of abuse, switched to OGK 5 spokes with plastic hubs, never had a prob with those beauties. My mate had zytecs , he never had probs with them either.
-
Those skinny things look very weak!
I can't recall how many Tuffs I've busted. I just found some yellow ally hubbed tuffs and the front rim has 2 cracks!! Even my graphites lose the tires all the time.
-
they are all shite, skyways are shite and grossly over rated, i have a set of skyways on all my bikes coz i love them, but they are still shite, just coz you like something it doesnt make it better, ogk's where shite mind, they used to part friends with the hub and side from side to side, every pair i saw BITD had that problem coz they where proper shite
-
Found a bmx a while back with Acorn mags on. One was split and the other I sent to motomag I believe. They did looked very vunerable to me. I think the Raleigh mags are very good, along with what I've heard about zytecs and the infamous skyways.
-
take back what you just said about skyways.

-

i love them but they are over rated dude, they crack n shit,
i own loads of pairs and all my bikes wear them coz i think they cool.
and id prefer swords you scoundrel :D
-
I had a pair of lavender metal hubbed acorns, never gave me any jip and they saw heap loads of abuse, sad to say I got Craig Campell to sign the front one, he must of thought i was a right dillpot.
