here are a few shots of my pre production frame this will be what the finshed ones look like but the welds will be polished smooth, i have changed the drop outs loads (peg friendly) a gusset round the seat clamp area (and internal) the brake tabs are removable but also flush, and different cable mounts (mtb ones infact) and a bit of shaping around the bottom bracket.

My initial reaction is that it looks like shit, but in the spirit of keeping an open mind, how is it that you can make a frame more than a pound lighter than Fly, Fit, Sunday etc without massively sacrificing strength?
I am not asking for industry secrets to be revealed but there must be a way to explain it in layman's terms.
-
by being clever ha ha i cant say man but they come with life time warranty and if mark webb cant break them then im sure that all i have to say dude....thanks man
-
Username I have heard rumours the tubes are full of helium, one of the brake lugs is actually a schrader valve and can be topped up at your local balloon shop . If you need to know anymore lightweight secrets PM dark diggler he knows everything :)
-
Looks OK and could be awesome if it actually is still as strong as the other frames on the market. The only issue I can see is that the stickers haven't been cut particularly well and so, as you can see on the close ups, areas which are just clear plastic bubble and look unslightly. Easily resolved and just makes the frame look that little bit better IMO
-
I think they`re really nice, and a British Company too :daumenhoch:
-
its a sample dude so the stickers have been printed by me and put on by my own fair hands ha ha and i admit im not the best at it but the sticker material is not what is used for actual bikes sticker etc etc.........strength......LIFETIME............Mark webb.....
-
I think they`re really nice, and a British Company too :daumenhoch:
Thanks bill! :daumenhoch:
-
i liked the look of these and the uk manufacturing is very appealing. We spoke, i'll be in toucjh to see if you can spare me a few for my new venture from the first run :daumenhoch:
-
thank you! my first container is spoke for as i now sell to most of the EU but im sure when it comes to the crunch there will be some left over :daumenhoch:

Good luck Dibly :daumenhoch:
-
had a good look at these pups at mk and im impressed
the results that have started happening and been ridden by some
of the countries finest riders is gobsmacking,we all have our own ideas
and opinions but you have put them out had them ridden and they work .
cant say more than that rock on dibly respect where its due.

-
I think it looks great, keep up the good work mate :4_17_5:
-
You have had my vote from the early days dude :daumenhoch:
Those forks are fooking ace, the detail is awesome. I will buy some of those so that you can afford some new jeans ;)
well done pal :4_17_5:
-
i think they look the dogs! really hope these take off for ya Dibly as it couldn't happen to a nicer bloke! :daumenhoch:
-
Well done Dibly!
I hope it becomes a huge success.
That way you can hire some goons to do all the day to day mundune work and you can get back on ya bike and do some OS Racing!!! :daumenhoch:
As for strength of the frames etc, etc. Whether your the biggest or the smallest company you always have to test your product.
Dibly has done that and is addressing any concerns that showed up when the product was first being tested when the prototypes were made.
The Lifetime warranty speaks for itself.
In such a small space of time, you've done a great job. Keep it up!! :daumenhoch:
-
i take it you got Webby on one then? the new face of unknown?
-
Great to see you at MK Darren - you're a top fella with enough balls to get out there and make it happen where others just talk. Big respect dude.
Can't wait to see the production 'Evolution' frame, a more traditional higher top tube will probably be more up the radbmx markets street.
Fine products - I can't wait to get mine buddy.
Take care and stay rad.
-
like i said dibly dude, i think they look awesome and wish you all the very best with them :daumenhoch:
-
Thank you guys! :)
-
the future looks bright.... the future looks unknown ;)
onwards and up-wards then dude? :daumenhoch:

They look real nice, great details :daumenhoch:
i'm sure you'll prove the unbelievers wrong :) if the technology's there then well done for going with it
i know webby is mad for light stuff so your onto a winner there, might stop him drilling bits out of his frames
-
Thanks man, iv seen his old frames dude yeah man the amount of metal he cuts away is unreal dude, working on a new frame for him as we speak man...it has to be mega strong but still light i dont think he has ever had a frame last him more than 6 months! Im sure this one will though been working closely with him
-
you cant really see the frame to well but you get the picture this is the more traditional type ukbikeco frame

I have been asked for a few of them now as the little bikes weigh almost just as much as a full size 20 and have been told it may be a good idea as the market for them bikes is getting alot bigger

-
I really like the looks of that frame!!
looks spot on!! :daumenhoch:
-
i see ryan winter botham at farnbourough the other day, hes been riding his frame for about 2 or 3 weeks and has all ready managed to crack it were the top tube meets the seat tube, now im no expert on desgining bikes but surely these frames have gone a little to farr
-
i would say every new frame on the market has issues at times and this actually needs to happen
for them to get improved in areas and move forward.
-
all ready managed to crack it were the top tube meets the seat tube
Near that big hole? What a surprise.
-
if you look at the pictures at the beging of the thread you can see the gusset round the seat clamp area this is external and internal this was not on ryans frame....i kinda thought ryans frame would go there but you never know until you test.......just like the head tubes on the wethepeople that flew off the frames.......all part of the testing process mate if you dont push the boundaries things will never develop and he has been on the frame for 4 months and i have to add that frame was totally different internally to the rest the tube daimeters were thinner the butting was less etc etc like i say you never know until you try and if every frame was tested in lab because they were scared of people seeing things go wrong BMX would not be were it is today i knew that was the weakest frame thats why i gave it to Ryan people all over the world have seen the frame and it hasnt stopped distributors all over Europe still wanting them, if they wouldnt buy because a proto frame went wrong i dont think there would even be a market
-
Damn Dilby!!!!
Take a breath boy!! ;D
-
;D ha ha i did go on a bit then didnt i
-
Evamedia has a valid point though. If it was flawed to the eye, then it's a bloody good bet it'll break there, especially if there's some work hardening going on.
-
superstars have the same kind of clamp i just thought i would try something a little smoother to the eye but hey it didnt work but i only made 1 of them no harm in trying
-
Indeed. So are all the frames currently being ridden all prototypes?
-
no most are the pre production ones they have been on them for a while now the frame that came 13th at the masters was a pre-production had it x-rayed to look for signs of stress etc...all is well
-
Have you stuck a meathead on one yet and told him to go and fcuk it up?
If not, you should. Destruction testing and all that...
-
all ready on it dude :daumenhoch:
-

i hope you dont mean me rob lol

Props to Dibly - it really takes a lot of balls to start your own bikeco when so many others are already in the game. Hitting the forums like this takes courage - when last did any of the bigger co's actually do this kind of thing? After chatting at MK I've got heaps of respect for this guy and I hope that he finds success with this venture. Keep it niche and keep making stuff you like Darren. Those frames are sweet - I love the little treats in the details. The bars are the lightest I've ever felt and have a great feel to them too. I'd get my boys on 'em if they were just a little older!
Unknown - not for long I reckon.
:Great_Britain:
-
Dwaine!
I think you have the wrong Dibly!!! :LolLolLolLol:
We met Dibly at the Creation Novice Night when he brought some frames to get tested by riders!!
Thats the whole point about testing.
To see if it holds up or not and whether your need to make improvements
You can't blame a prototype for failing. Especially when you trying something new or out of the norm!!!
Only an an :idiot2: would produce 500 frames from the initial design.
Ford dont do it and neither do any other company.
Design, Test, Redesign, Re-Test, Happy, Product in shops, Job Done!!
Considering some companies spend years testing new products. Dibly's done a great job in such a small time frame.
Well done!
Keep it up Dibly!! :daumenhoch:
-

-
Is it true the Kane Hennesey is off ukbikeco, or just an internet rumour?
New Website seems to have less info than the temporary one?
