I'm interested in your opinions of the two, as I know very little about them. I'd would to love to restore one in the not so near future, once I have clearer idea of what I am looking at. I'm only a youngin so a lot of the BMX beginnings was missed for me, and watchin Joe Kid has confirmed my want of a freestyler.. The poll isn't really what do you guys think I should buy kinda thing... but just a way to get an overall consensus, of the model as a whole.
-
it has to be haro but if your on a budget skyway... old schoolers would prefer haro as he was the godfather & his bike was a dream machine to most kids, by the time the streetbeats came bmx was dying due to breakdancing & everyone was working so everything was in our reach
-
either make for a good bike
the haros however will cost you a lot more for the frame and fork
to start with, build up a beat whilst searching for that perfect haro
the fst's were good - they are pretty much the same as the sport

lol you should see how much my orange one cost to build.budget lol i wish.
-
i had an fsx and it was nice, not had a streetbeat but if they ride anything like the t/a i would say they would be better.
-
im surprised dave aint put a picture up yet of that haro of his we see so little of ;D.
-
I don't know who Dave is but think I know his bike. Gen 1 I do beleive? ;) I still don't get bored of seeing it though, its become a bit of a national treasure!
-
One day, you'll all be bored with my pictures of my two in progress builds. Haro Sport and a streatbeat. Haven't got very far on either of them due to busines trips, but hope to finish them by the summer. I also love the sport. Kind of reminds me of Zoe Ball. The streatbeat is more of a Ulrika Johnsson.. :)

big eared gobshite?
-
I met Ulrika when I went on The Disney Club. She told me to cheer up.... she was fit back then, but doesn't do it for me nowadays. Does that mean I'll grow out of liking the streetbeat.
-
you never grow out of liking streetbeats mate.i love emĀ ;).

if they were good enough for the best freestyler in the uk back then. they'll do for me.

ha ha. yeah i suppose so. perhaps the curtis freestyler is more of a Zoe ball.
The DP freestyler is sort of Angel from Home and away, or sporty spice
The redline Rl20 is really like one of the Corrs ;)

ok, which bike is best for a very tall person, not for tricks, just freestylin :D i mean cruising!!??????

Haro every time, Iv got 3. I know I have been known to give Streetbeats a bit of stick, but for the money, they are a great F&F.
Just look at Dave's they are the best two Streetbeats Iv seen, but they are crying out for some Flights.

I wouldn't mind a StreetBeat...how low have the prices come down too since the influx of the "bare" ones???
With my new arrival this week though, I'll probably have to sell one of my Burners before I could fund a SB build! :-\
-
Hi ;)
A very hard question to answer I reckon....
The Freestyler is not that good in ways (the Sport was a better ride for most people), however the Freestyler was (as good as) in from the start of BMX freestyle and Skyway years later, Haro's always looked the nads and still have that WOW factor, presense, history, appeal and were designed by 'The Man'...Bob, enough said.
Money wise the Streetbeat is great, and the wife or partner i'm sure would prefer them, but for me it's got to be the Haro.
Early Haro's are buggers getting bits for though, you choose your build and know what you are after but then it just takes ages because you've just got to get it right... ;)
-
Haro for me also.
I bought a Sport last year and then sold it as I only looked at it in the garage.
Just ordered a new sport thats going to be a rider.
-
Hmmm, different bikes to be honest.
Depends on what you like.
The Master looks better.
-
for me it would have to Haro, only as BITD it was always THE bike to have/want. as most of us came from modest backgrounds we only had Burners and dreamed of having a Haro.
But guess what i'm biulding............ :)
And it's changing all the time!
Feels great though!
-
The Master looks better.
in your opinion :LolLolLolLol:.
-
pickle that beat looks really nice!!
except the seatpost.
-
never liked haros BITD but bought a sport cheap just to get back into riding, then got excited about streatbeats and bought and built one identicallly set up to the haro, the result being that the skyway felt foooookin awful to ride it just felt clumsy yet it felt positive at the same time but the haro feels wild it lets you do more and makes you think "I can" where as the streatbeat makes you think "should I?". i got rid of the beat as soon as i could coz to me it was poo.
verdict from personal experience then:
Haro's for rippin it up while bein retro cool (great alrounder)
Streetbeats for the more sensible funky rider (not to hot on dirt)
but i am as mad as a box of frogs, so who cares? personal pref at end of day, can you live with it? :D
-
one of each is the way to go
-

Thank you, i don't mind the post (it came with the f+f) but i have thought about changing it for a Renthal or GT layback (i need a layback as i'm 6'2") It's getting new white or blue brakes and new green Haro tyres, then i'm free to ride!!! :D
-
i think alans do nice blue renthal laybacks
you bringing this bike to bones next week for a test-ride?
-
My vote is on the Haro though I do like the Skyway too

you bringing this bike to bones next week for a test-ride?
Yes a blue one would look sweet! as for bones?? well no, not yet due to a few reasons........
1. it's not quite ready yet
2. I live in Hatfield which is a bit of a drive to Bones
3. even BITD i was Rubbish!!! so would be a complete pile of poo!
But will get to a meet soon though with her..........it'd be good to ride her for what she was intended.
-
cool . . . what forks are on that there rare green streetbeat?

is it impossible to fall off too?
-
3 - 1 to Haro at the moment.
Thanks for the input guys. Has been very helpful !!!
Is the 85 Haro generally the most desirable then ? I'm quite keen on the older later looking haros which I presume would be a bit easier to get hold of...?
This one by fresh for example...

Sadly this isn't my haro, I found it in the museum but really liked it aesthetically. Member is 'fresh' something.
I do own a burner though, but now after a freestyle bike.
